My husband Adrian and myself have been supplying Hybrid poultry to the island for 20 years now. My grandad used to keep free range poultry for egg production but eventually had to give up. We started to keep hybrid chickens ourself when we decided we wanted a few hens to produce eggs just for our own consumption. We found that at that time there was no-one on the island that we could buy hybrids f

rom. We ended up travelling to mainland for just 6 birds, so with the
costs of the ferry they turned out to be very expensive chickens. We knew that there must be other people in the same boat so later that year we booked to go over and bring back 30 chickens. We never intended this to be a business, we just hoped to cover our ferry and transport costs and in turn help fellow poultry lovers. Little did we know there were so many people out there wanting to keep just a few chickens. We now bring on a large amount of hybrid chicks every year, growing
them and finding them new homes. This is still really just a hobby, we both have jobs elsewhere and so long as we cover our expenses and the costs of feeding and vaccinating the birds then we are happy. We have a long list of very satisfied customers.We are open all week and weekend but by appointment only. Please feel free to come along and take a look at the chickens or ask us any questions. We offer a back up service for all those questions you think
of once you get your chickens home. We are always happy to offer advice and back up service for the full life of your chicken. We also offer a wing clipping service for those of you not brave enough to do this yourselves. Please feel free to give us a ring and see if we can help you out.

We started to keep hybrid chickens ourself when we decided we wanted a few hens to produce eggs just for our own consumption. We found that at that time there was no-one on the island that we could buy hybrids from. We ended up travelling to mainland for just 6 birds, so with the costs of the ferry they turned out to be very expensive chickens. We now bring on a large amount of hybrid chicks every year, growing them and finding them new homes. Sadly the costs of feeding and buying the chickens as day olds has gone up tremendously and we had to increase our prices in 2012 for the first time in 5 years. And they haven't been put up since then. We have a long list of very satisfied customers.We are open all week and weekend but by appointment only. Please feel free to give us a ring and see if we can help you out. We now live on the farm in a new house that we built ourselves after living in a caravan for 2 years. We already sell our own free range eggs direct from the door. Our eggs are fresh and colourful from cream through brown, to white and green. We also rear our own sheep and lambs and pigs. We keep cattle including one highland cow and a mixture of beef cattle. We have also kept reindeer and at work we rear, alpaca, red deer and fallow deer, so have plenty of livestock experience.
