📞 Telephone & Internet Problems – Runcorn

We’re aware that there have been widespread problems with telephone and internet services across Runcorn this afternoon, which unfortunately have affected us here at Anthony’s Travel too.

As we’re now approaching the end of the working day, we’re going to close the office and hopefully everything will be back up and running as normal tomorrow morning. 🤞

We’d like to apologise to anyone who has tried to call or contact us this afternoon and hasn’t been able to get through.

We are here — we just haven’t been very easy to reach today! 😄

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we’ll pick up any outstanding enquiries as soon as normal service resumes.

Coaches and cruise ships – more connected than you might think! 🚌🚢

Dawn and I are currently sailing away from Hamburg after a fantastic week cruising, having also visited Copenhagen and Kristiansand.

Being on the passenger side of the cruise industry this week has been a good reminder of just how much cruise tourism relies on coaches.

Before the ship even sails, coach operators from all over the UK are transporting passengers and their luggage to Southampton and other cruise terminals.

Then, when those ships arrive in ports around the UK, coaches are waiting again – taking thousands of visitors on shore excursions, supporting local attractions, businesses and the wider visitor economy.

And while we’ve been away enjoying our own cruise, the team back at Anthony’s Travel have been doing exactly that.

Over the past week alone, we’ve operated 10 shore excursions for cruise passengers visiting the Port of Liverpool – with more to come next week. 🚌

It’s another side of our industry that often goes unnoticed.

School trips, airports, cruise terminals, holidays, sporting events, concerts, days out and incoming tourism – coaches are the link that makes so much of it possible.

The cruise ship might be the impressive sight everyone photographs when it arrives in port… 🚢

…but take a look along the quayside and you’ll usually find the coaches ready to make the next part of the journey happen. 🚌

Delighted to be heading to Birmingham on 6th October for the Women in Bus and Coach 2026 Summit & Awards. 🚌

This year’s theme is Workforce of Tomorrow — and it’s one that really matters to us.

At Anthony’s Travel, women have always played a huge part in our story. From my mum Anne, who has been there since the early days, to Dawn, Faye, Gayle and the rest of the team today — the ladies of Anthony’s Travel have helped shape the business we are proud of today and, quite often, are the ones keeping us men in check! 😂

And it doesn’t stop at our own front door. We’re lucky to work alongside some brilliant women across the coach industry, including trusted suppliers and friends Lisa and Laura, who have become very much part of the Anthony’s Travel extended family.

If we genuinely want to build the Workforce of Tomorrow, we need to make our industry somewhere the next generation — women and men — can see themselves building a rewarding career.

I’m particularly looking forward to the Awards this year. Having had the privilege of being involved in the judging, I’ve had a glimpse of just how many fantastic women are making a real difference across our industry.

So, plenty of catching up, probably plenty of talking 🗣️, hopefully a bit of laughter, and most importantly a chance to celebrate some brilliant people in the Kingdom of Coaches. 🚌👑
