A breezy sunny morning . Waiting on clients off this Holland America cruise ship. We got a bit wet yesterday although it did not dampen our spirits. Stood on Luss pier with horizontal rain. The folks were from Michigan . The weather did not phase them at all. Today Culzean Castle . Watch this space. 🙂

Confession time: I’ve always been a bit skeptical of corporate jargon. Give me words like “going forward” or “networking” and my eyes would glaze right over. ☕️🥐
Well, I officially stand corrected. It turns out networking is actually code for visiting gorgeous venues, chatting with brilliant people, and eating your weight in croissants and Nosecco. Sign me up!
We spent a wonderful, informative morning at the Ingliston Country Club and Hotel in Bishopton for an event organized by Damon Scott (Economic Development Officer for Tourism at Renfrewshire Council).
We had some great chats with everyone from large organizations to fellow independent business owners, mulling over new ideas and looking at how we can boost tourism in our area. The goal "going forward" (look at me using the lingo!) is to collaborate with other local providers so we can keep offering first-class service and bring a wee bit more of the wider tourism market right here to Renfrewshire.

The Historic Choice: Stirling Castle

While Edinburgh is often too far for a comfortable cruise stop, Stirling Castle is a brilliant alternative and arguably more historically significant.

Tours, conducted by the professional guides within the castle, will give you the history of the castle as an early stronghold of the Stewart kings and queens, the castle's strategic position in the Scottish wars of independence and through the "Golden Age" of Scottish home rule.

The Wallace Monument: Dedicated to Sir William Wallace (Braveheart), offering a steep climb with rewarding views of the Forth Valley. Built in the 1860s to commemorate the life of Sir William Wallace the monument compliments the history of Stirling castle . With a museum housed over 4 floors you will learn of the life and trials of this Scottish noble man , a member of the lesser gentry , who fought and died in pursuit of an independent Scotland.
