Afternoon world 🌍

Another one of those glamorous workshop weekends for the LimeLiner that seem to come around far too frequently … 😅

Wheels off, brakes checked, hubs inspected and everything given a good once over. It’s all part of keeping the wheels turning and making sure the truck is right when the work’s there.

Safe to say I definitely got my money’s worth out of one of the mid-lift tyres though… 👀
I'll never get Pirellis again. “Premium tyres” my arse… worn worse than anything else I’ve ever run and didn’t last anywhere near as well as expected.

Running trucks isn’t always sunsets, shiny paint and motorway photos. Sometimes it’s covered in brake dust, chasing wear issues and spending your weekend in the workshop instead of at home!

Still… at least we're still running 👍🚛💚

Sun’s out and the LimeLiner’s looking the part ☀️💚

One of the things I actually love about container work… you get those little pockets of time while you’re waiting. Instead of just sitting there, it’s the perfect chance to get the truck cleaned up and polished 👌

Nothing better than a bit of sunshine, a tidy motor, and being paid to wait 😎

Anyone else make the most of the downtime or just watch crappy videos? 👀

A catch-up from the last few days…

Started the days with a couple of good container runs.
Then a cracking run up to Scotland delivering a Volvo EC190EL along with a full set of attachments into St Andrews for Phipps Contractors, helping get things moving on a brand-new golf course build.

Had to stop and take a moment once parked up — the scenery was unreal. That sunset made the trip even better. 🌅

From there it was straight back to work with a reload out of St Andrews for MJ Abbott, lifting equipment off the links course and heading back down to Salisbury.

Then a change of pace to finish the week — collecting electric vans for Iveco UK from Winsford and delivering them into the Birmingham NEC ready for this year’s CV Show.

Busy days, plenty of miles, and a bit of everything thrown in.

🚛 Empty Low Loader – Backload Opportunity

We’ll have our 3-axle low loader empty from St. Andrew’s on Thursday 16th April, heading back south towards Reading.

If anyone has plant, machinery, or equipment that needs moving along that route — or knows someone who does — please drop me a message.

Some people see the trucks on the road and think the money must be good.
The truth is, many nights are spent staring into space, thinking about the numbers and wondering how it’s all going to keep working.

Work isn’t guaranteed. Diesel keeps going up. Fuel surcharges don’t come close to covering the real cost. (One customer recently suggested I should absorb the increase by streamlining my business!) Good drivers are like gold dust. Rates are squeezed tighter every year. And for many subcontractors, once everything is paid, there’s barely anything left — sometimes it actually costs money just to keep the wheels turning.

The pressure in transport is relentless.
Small operators and subcontractors are carrying huge stress every single day, trying to keep trucks moving, drivers in place, customers happy, and businesses from slipping under.

This isn’t about sympathy — it’s about telling the truth.

Because behind every “just get it covered” job, there’s usually someone taking the hit — mentally, financially, and personally — just to keep the job done
