Heading out on the jet ski over the summer? It is important that you are aware of the rules before you start:

1) Before being allowed to launch all power boats and jet-skis must be registered with the Council - https://orlo.uk/3mBcH
2) Ensure that you comply with the rules in force and keep to a speed of no more than 4 nautical miles within 100 meters of the shoreline.
3) Launch only in authorized areas and be very careful when driving on the beach

Many of our shouts this year have been to paddle boarders and kayakers. Offshore winds have carried paddlers far out to sea, changing tides have caused sea conditions to deteriorate significantly leaving paddlers unable to make any headway. One boy came off his board and was left with no board and no means of calling for help.

Please make sure you are prepared - check the tide and sea conditions, avoid areas of strong current such as Rillage Point. Wear a buoyancy aid and carry a phone.

If you need help, do not hesitate to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
