R.I.P. our friend and genuinely wonderful man. It was our greatest pleasure to have worked with you.

We are truly heartbroken to share that David Rogers passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A true legend of the industry, Davidโ€”alongside Johnโ€”was the driving force behind the companyโ€™s growth and success for more than 50 years. He was the most exceptional transport planner, with outstanding commercial acumen and a true natural leader, with an unparalleled work ethic.

We have lost a remarkable man, a wonderful character with a fantastic sense of fun, and both E.M. Rogers and the Rogers family will never be the same again.

As we navigate this incredibly difficult time, we are so grateful for, and proud of, all that he achieved and so thankful for the time we had with him, and the memories he has given us.

*IMPORTANT NOTE FOR UK BASED INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS*

We're a bit late to the party on this one, but just in case anyone else missed it... going forward, National DCPC modules will not count towards a 'European compatible' (code 95) DCPC. Worse still, if you don't 'OPT OUT' any National DCPC modules from your training, you will be issued a DCPC that is limited to UK only.

To clarify, for European driving ALL of your modules need to be International modules. Any National modules that you have already taken need to be 'removed' (opted out) from your record BEFORE you complete the fifth module. Failure to mark any National modules 'opted out' before completing the fifth will result in DVSA issuing a 'UK Only' DCPC.

As a result of the Brexit negotiations, British citizens without an EU/EEA identity are now subject to a limit on the number of days that they can spend in the EU. In any 180 days, a British citizen can spend a maximum of 90 days in the EU. This limit counts work and holidays alike.

The number of days counted is inclusive of any 'part days', so a British truck driver travelling from Dover to Calais and Monday night, then returning on Friday morning, will have expended 5 full days of their allowance. For those British companies, like E.M Rogers Transport, Alcaline, and S&K, engaged in international operations, this rule has a considerable impact on their ability to operate internationally.

In the bigger picture, the UK government will argue that British international hauliers represent only a small proportion of the international freight traffic, and has suggested that British hauliers should 'diversify', rather than expect to continue the business that, in the case of Rogers, spans many decades.

Many of our drivers will be affected by this rule, many will not. In either case, we ask ALL of our followers to take this opportunity to support our hauliers by signing the petition below. Please also share this post.

We believe a professional driversโ€™ exemption from Schengen restrictions from the 90/180 day rule to those who are transporting goods or people between the UK and EU on a return journey is needed, and would be grateful for support in raising this issue in Parliament and with EU members.

Our in-house developed app is proving popular today, making it easy for us to manage our clients' expectations.

And on a side note, it shows how far we've come - each of those pins represents one of our drivers, moving 25 trucks from Spa to Budapest.
