Hidden Disabilities – New Process at Spanish Airports 🌻🚨
This is something many travellers don’t know, and it could genuinely make someone’s holiday much smoother.
If you or someone you know has a hidden disability, please be aware that Spanish airports no longer officially recognise the UK Sunflower Lanyard for accessing assistance lanes.
🇪🇸 Instead, Aena (the Spanish airport authority) now uses its own Invisible Disabilities Badge — completely FREE and simple to apply for. This badge can help with:
💙 Discreet identification for airport staff
💙 Additional support through security
💙 Access to family/PRM assistance lanes where available
💙 One badge per family or travel group
🛫 Available at major airports including Alicante, Barcelona, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife South and more.
📝 How to apply:
✔️ Complete the online form at least 48 hours before travel
✔️ Add your passenger and flight details
✔️ Receive your badge by email
✔️ Save it to your phone or print it
As someone who helps hundreds of travellers every year, I wanted to share this because so many people still assume the Sunflower Lanyard works the same everywhere — and in Spain, it doesn’t.
Sometimes it’s the little bits of knowledge that make travel less stressful 💙
