The port's close proximity to the English Channel shipping lanes provides an ideal location for vessels both in terms of distance and travel time. The harbour is well protected from the south and south westerly winds, as it shelters behind the Isle of Portland and Chesil Beach, and is circled by an extensive breakwate

r system which protects it from adverse easterly weather conditions. Portland Port offers a safe, sheltered and deep harbour which makes it a superb choice for all vessels, from small yachts to some of the largest cruise ships in the world. Our reception & offices are open Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm
The Marine department is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Portland Castle is just outside the Port , in Castletown - overlooking Portland Marina.
The "Captains Tearoom" is renowned for delicious Dorset Apple Cake, Scones and Cream Teas
Built by Henry VIII in 1539, a Tudor fortress with more than 400 years of history
Come along to Portland Castle to enjoy the peaceful & tranquil gardens .

🇬🇧 Falklands Tribute by Standing With Giants at Nothe Fort 🇬🇧
📅 Open 5 – 30 November 2025 | Wednesdays – Sundays | 10am – 3pm

We are honoured to share the news of the powerful and moving Falklands Tribute by the charity Standing With Giants, right here at Nothe Fort.

This breathtaking installation features 255 life-size silhouettes representing the British servicemen and civilians who lost their lives during the 1982 Falklands War. Visitors are invited to walk among the figures displayed across our historic Parade Ground, offering a space for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude.

🎖️ Free entry for Falklands Veterans and their immediate families
🎖️ Concession tickets available for other Veterans and serving personnel
🎟️ Admission is included with standard Nothe Fort entry – and free for Annual Pass holders

We are moved to hear that veterans will be joining the tribute on select dates to share their stories in person. These moments of connection are what make this tribute truly special.

This is a limited-time exhibition, open for just 20 days, and we hope you’ll come to Weymouth and join in paying tribute to those who served and sacrificed.
