Join us this August 2026 for a host of upcoming Super Saturday events!
Every Saturday in August we have got something different and exciting happening for you to come along and see. Including two Super Weekends!
1st and 2nd August - Steam Gala and Classic Car weekend:
Join us for our August Steam Gala with a host of Classic Cars to come and see at Gelert’s Farm, along with visiting engines from the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway.
We will be running an intensive gala timetable ensuring there will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained across the weekend.
8th and 9th August - Miniature Madness weekend:
Our Miniature railway, The Porthmadog Woodland Railway, will be hosting a variety of visiting 7 ¼ locos as well as miniature traction engines and a portable raised 5” & 3 ½” gauge track to ride on.
We will be running our normal Steam timetable on the mainline so there is something to keep everyone entertained big and small. This applies to the three Saturdays after too!
15th August - Motorbike Mayhem - Saturday only:
This is the ultimate crossover of horsepower heritage for those petrol heads and railway enthusiasts alike. Take our heritage steam trains for a ride and stop off at Gelert’s Farm and Museum to see a range of vintage motorbikes courtesy of the VMCC.
22nd August - Behind the scenes - Saturday Only:
Ever wondered what goes on behind closed doors at a heritage railway?
Join our team to take a peek behind shed doors and take a tour of the behind the scenes areas. Talk to our volunteers about ongoing works, upcoming plans and see what goes one behind the scenes to keep a heritage railway running.
There will also be a selection of model railway layouts on display in our museum.
29th August - Drive a Diesel - Saturday Only:
Ever wanted a go at driving a diesel locomotive?
Join us on our final Super Saturday event of August to have the chance to drive our diesel locomotive ‘Glaslyn’ in the yard at Gelert’s Farm.
