Recently, the EMA Patient Transport team completed a specialist private ambulance transfer from a residential care home to Portelet Lodge Care Home. Due to a confirmed bed bug infestation at the originating property, our crew implemented enhanced infection prevention and biosecurity measures throughout the journey to protect both the patient and future service users.

Wearing appropriate PPE and following strict decontamination protocols, our experienced staff safely transferred the patient with compassion and professionalism, ensuring they remained comfortable and reassured throughout the journey.

Following completion of the transfer, our ambulance, stretcher and specialist equipment underwent a comprehensive deep-clean and decontamination process before returning to operational service. Patient safety, staff welfare and infection control remain at the heart of everything we do.
