Choosing the right aggregate makes a big difference to the finished job.

Type 1 compacts tightly to create a strong, solid base. It’s commonly used beneath:

Type 3 contains fewer fine particles, allowing water to pass through more easily. It’s ideal for:

Quick site tip before your 8-wheeler arrives 🚛

A little bit of preparation can save a lot of time when you’ve got aggregate coming into site.

Make sure there’s enough room for the wagon to get in, turn and tip safely — and don’t forget to look up as well as around. Low branches, cables and other overhead obstructions can easily cause problems once the body starts going up.

If access is tight or you’re unsure whether an 8-wheeler will get in, it’s always worth mentioning it when arranging the load. A quick conversation beforehand is much easier than trying to sort it when the wagon is already at the gate.

A few minutes planning can keep the delivery — and the rest of the job — moving.

One thing worth checking before booking a muck-away: what are you actually digging out?

Soil, clean hardcore and mixed demolition material can all need handling differently, and knowing what’s coming off the job beforehand makes it much easier to get the right lorry and disposal sorted.

If there’s anything unusual mixed in, mention it when you book rather than waiting until the truck is on site. It can save wasted journeys, delays and extra costs.

A quick photo of the material beforehand can be useful too — especially if you’re not quite sure what you’ve got.
A little bit of information at the start usually makes the whole job run a lot smoother.

Helping get the A31 moving again!

A bit of footage from today of two of our DM Briggs Transport trucks delivering hot asphalt for the resurfacing works on the A31, following the wildfires last week.

It’s good to see the repair work underway and even better to have two of our trucks playing a small part in getting this important route repaired and reopened.

As a company we are saddened by the news that a family friend and loyal customer passed away this weekend. Lee was one of a kind and certainly had a real passion for his work! We are proud to have been able to have assisted him at many of his jobs and work alongside him for multiple years. Rest in peace Lee, gone but certainly will never be forgotten🕊️
