C Toms & Son is a family run business based in Polruan on the River Fowey in Cornwall. The company runs a thriving boatyard building vessels in steel and wood and offers a wide range of refit and maintenance services for commercial and leisure boat owners. C Toms & Son has a national reputation in the fishing industry and has built boats for customers across the UK. The boatyard has a slipway that

can accommodate vessels up to 300 tonnes, a boat hoist that can lift vessels up to 200 tonnes and 20 metres long and offers craneage facilities to 50 tonnes.

C Toms and Son were pleased to welcome HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO to the boatyard as part of our celebration to mark the completion of our Boatyard Upgrade Project. During the visit he had a tour of our facilities where he spoke to staff before taking the controls to drive our new vessel trolley and unveiling a plaque to mark the completion of the works. Paul Toms said “It was a pleasure to be joined by HRH The Duke of Gloucester to mark this occasion. After 38 years working within the business it’s great to see this Upgrade Project completed and the business taking its next step forward with both new and improved facilities and greater sustainability”.

We were also joined by members of the local marine community, suppliers who worked on aspects of the upgrade work with us and a selection of customers all of whom were able to view the facilities and enjoy the celebration with us.

We would like to extend our gratitude to HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO for visiting our boatyard and Cornwall Council for giving us this opportunity.
