Our Senior Public Affairs Lead, Ashton Cull has been on Times Radio this morning calling on the government to back the businesses that keep Britain moving.

With the price of diesel hitting record levels in the UK this week, the 5p cut in fuel duty ending in December, and planned increases of 3p in January, another 2p in March followed by an RPI increase every year afterwards - we're clear that planned fuel duty increases need to be scrapped.

Two member visits in Wales for Geraint Davies, taking our Back the Businesses That Keep Britain Moving campaign to Crynant Plant and Owens in Llanelli.

At Crynant Plant, it was great to catch up with the team and see their support for the campaign.

Then it was a trip down memory lane at Owens, where Geraint worked 26 years ago. His original company tie even made an appearance! As he put it, “It was like going home.”

Drivers across the UK overestimate their control, but many aren’t checking their tyres often enough - that's the message from TyreSafe as Tyre Safety Month officially starts today.

UK drivers and riders are dangerously overestimating their ability to stay in control on the roads—while many are failing to carry out even the most basic tyre safety checks, according to research released by TyreSafe.

As part of Tyre Safety Month, the charity is highlighting a growing disconnect between road user confidence and real-world vehicle maintenance, with clear regional differences emerging across the UK.

TyreSafe is urging all drivers to ACT before they REact by checking:

• Tread depth

Our Director of Policy & Public Affairs, Declan Pang, has been on LBC News to discuss the potential impact of US export restrictions on diesel, and the need for government action to help businesses and consumers against the inflationary pressures caused by rising fuel costs.

Looking ahead to the Autumn Budget, and planned increases in fuel duty, Declan says: "A fuel duty hike is a food price hike."
