The BAR has been working hard with our colleagues in the Home Buying and Selling Group to improve on the home moving experience for the consumer and to make the whole process more efficient, not least on completion day itself.
One of the Group's objectives is that keys should be released to the new owner at or by 1pm on moving day but as many of you will know this often isn't achieved. So the Group is now working on collecting data to support the need for change and encourage business to embrace the necessary changes and hopefully for Government to set measurable parameters for the property industry. And to do this we need your help.
For transactions/moves affected by delay (i.e. late key release) between 1st September and 31st December 2024 ONLY, please confirm:
1. What time the agent confirmed the keys had been released, and
2. What time the customer actually got the keys.
This data will be invaluable in helping to identify where the blockage occurs so please do take the time to gather this data and send it to: [email protected], during the first week of January 2025. Please confirm which BAR Area your company/branch operates within, or if not a BAR Member, which County.
