KMS Through March 🚢💥

Breaking through into spring? It’s felt more like charging straight through it at full throttle. March has carried on the trend of being relentless — it’s been every single week, with no signs of slowing down.

With spring trying to make an appearance, we’ve had the occasional break in the weather… but only just. Windows have been tight, conditions unpredictable, and timing critical — but the fleet has kept pushing, delivering project after project right across the South West.

This month has been all about momentum, commitment, and getting the job done — no matter the challenge.

𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐧 ⚓
Absolutely unstoppable this month. Tean has been working continuously and tirelessly, running what feels like non-stop supply trips between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly. Back and forth, day after day — a true lifeline route being delivered with precision.

She’s proven herself to be a real trojan of the fleet, but it didn’t stop there… Tean also powered up to Birnbeck Pier (Weston-super-Mare), taking on the challenge of landing an excavator for ongoing regeneration works. Tight access, careful planning, and flawless ex*****on — exactly what she does best.

𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚 🌊
Backing up freight operations, Valonia has been putting in serious work when needed. Multiple runs in a single day stepping up time and time again to keep supplies moving when it matters most.

Dependable, hard-working, and always ready to go again — a key player in keeping everything on track during a demanding month.

𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥 👀
Headed back to Plymouth for a short project, Watchful has slotted straight into support boat duties again without missing a beat. Whether it’s assisting operations, moving crew, or being on standby when needed, she’s right where the action is — and ready for whatever comes next.

𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐀𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 ⚙️
Aiden has been on a specialist mission in Torbay, drafted in to support a change of ownership for a vessel at anchor. Handling both personnel transfers and stores, the operation has required precision, coordination, and flexibility.

Working alongside Kraken Haulage Services - KHS, everything has come together seamlessly — a great example of teamwork delivering under pressure.

From long runs to tight landings, from island logistics to specialist support — March has been full-on from start to finish.

Massive credit to all crews and everyone behind the scenes. Early starts, long days, tight turnarounds — and still delivering every time.

🚢🔧 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧… 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐚𝐲.

The STB main was originally scheduled for cylinder head and gasket replacement. Straightforward job… or so we thought.

Shortly after the heads came off, we had a call from the Superintendent:
“Urrrmmm… we may have a bigger problem.”
On closer inspection, we found cracked liners and a cracked block — game changer.🤦‍♂️

Straight on the phone to Watermota in a bit of a panic:
Tues-⌚️15:00 - “James, do you have a complete engine in stock?”
“We have one left.”
“I’ll take it.”😫

From that first phone call to collecting the engine, driving it to Penzance and having it installed in the vessel — less than 24 hours. No waiting on parts. No drawn-out delays. Just decisive action and incredible service.

Huge credit to the our Superintendent Sam and the team at Penwith Marine who had the old engine removed before I arrived, we craned the new unit in at Wed-⌚️14:00, and the hatch sealed back up.

When time is tight and the vessel has projects looming, it says a lot about everyone involved when it all comes together at short notice.

Proper teamwork. Proper service. Proper Job 💪

Commercially endorsed qualifications appropriate to vessel class.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Experience in workboat / landing craft / marine operations.
A practical, hands-on approach.

Valid ENG1
Relevant sea survival and STCW certifications.
Workboat or similar operational experience preferred.
Positive attitude and team mindset.

Yesterday saw three major freight movements arrive from KMS Tean, KMS Valonia and the Barge, keeping the KMS team busy from start to finish.

Operations of this scale rely on careful planning and seamless coordination. With high volumes of freight arriving at once, the KMS operation worked closely with Newlyn Harbour, the Isles of Scilly Harbour Team, TMS Ltd, MPH, Richard Hand Haulage, A R Newport Transport & Storage , JN Bentley, Clancy and others to turn inbound and outbound freight around in a matter of hours.

Delivering this level of service is never straightforward—especially across smaller harbours with limited infrastructure, including the off-islands deliveries. Thanks to strong teamwork and clear communication, disruption was kept to an absolute minimum.

With weather fronts closing in, teams stayed late and pushed through to get the job done safely and efficiently. A solid example of KMS at its best: reliable, responsive, and built around teamwork.👏

𝙆𝙈𝙎 | 𝘽𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 – 2026

With the December rush been and gone it initially looked like a gentle start to 2026, but this quickly turned into a very busy period for KMS. From New Year’s Day, all assets have been deployed and working continuously ever since.

🚢𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐧 has been working hard delivering resilience operations and maintaining a🛟 vital lifeline link to the The Isles of Scilly. Dedicated sailings have been running back and forth carrying chilled, frozen, and ambient food supplies alongside other essential freight. This is a true testament to both the vessel and crew, pushing weather where required to ensure islanders are supplied week in, week out.🫡👮‍♂️

Following Storm Goretti, the level of devastation was significant. Further storms and adverse weather made access to the islands increasingly challenging. In response, KMS hired in a 600-tonne barge from Marine Plant Hire, loading it with essential supplies. Shore crews worked in difficult conditions to ensure the barge was safely loaded and ready to sail. Alongside this, KMS utilised local resources to assist with loading from A R Newport Transport & Storage into Newlyn Harbour, ensuring continuity of supply during a critical period, please get in touch if you wish to add your freight to KMS freight movements. 💪

🛥️𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚
Continued on hire in Torquay before mobilising to Plymouth in early January, while she was there her annual certificate was renewed and took the chance to keep her tip top with a wash down and bottom scrub, Working closely with the client, the vessel successfully conducts trials within Plymouth Sound.⚓

🚤𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥
Remains on hire, and due to very positive client feedback, an additional vessel was requested to support ongoing operations. As a result, 𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐀𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 was mobilised in early January. It’s great to see three KMS vessels operating simultaneously in Plymouth on separate projects.

November has been a busy and productive month for KMS, with strong operational performance and sustained engagement across multiple regional projects. Our fleet has been especially active along the Southwest coast, delivering a broad range of marine services, commercial operations, and client-driven trials. As we enter the final months of the year, the team remains focused on delivering a strong operational push, maintaining momentum across all ongoing projects, and ensuring we finish 2025 with the same drive and reliability that has defined our performance throughout the year, almost there 💪

🔱𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐧⛴️
KMS Tean, continued to demonstrate outstanding reliability throughout November, maintaining consistent freight movements between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly. Her dependable service remains a vital supply link for both commercial partners and island communities, ensuring the timely transfer of essential goods and project cargo, also she still found time to go away back to Flatholm Island to recover the last few bit of freight, ending the client from there for a successful 9months of conservation. 🏝️

⚓𝐊𝐌𝐒 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚🛳️
KMS Valonia, remains on charter in Torbay, where she is supporting an ongoing programme of underwater trials. These operations involve a series of technical assessments and subsea support tasks, further showcasing the vessel’s capability in coastal research, marine development for specialist equipment testing.

KMS Watchful, continues her deployment in Plymouth as a dedicated support and standby vessel. Her responsibilities include rapid-response availability, on-site operational readiness, towing and general project support—reinforcing the trust placed in her for ongoing operational stability by our client.

KMS Aiden, has temporarily relocated to Newlyn to assist with client-led trials near Lizard Point. Operating from this location allows for efficient testing under local conditions while ensuring the vessel remains flexible and ready to respond as project priorities develop.
