It seems to have been a long slog but Moonshadow goes back in the water tomorrow.

We have been busy, doing lots of jobs, most of which were maintenance, some were improvements, a few were major changes.

Servicing jobs:
New engine fuel filter
New remote fuel filters
New oil filter
New oil
New oil pressure sensor
New engine start batteries
Tightened all fuel connections
New impeller, in a new water pump
New wiper blade
Tanks cleaned
Fuel polished
New engine anodes

Improvements
New switches for cabin lights
Diesel heater fuel line replaced
New rear deck lights
New light mast and steaming light
Deck recoated with some non slip panels (not quite finished due to weather)
Transom to deck re-glassed
Lift opening area deck glassed to transom (was just mechanically fixed before)
Gunwhales sanded and painted
Hull sanded painted
Bilge pump pipework changed and re-routed
Prop shaft strut bonded with hulls anodes
Rudder bonding wire replaced
Prop shaft bonded with shaft eliminator
Cabin manual bilge pump relocated.
Microwave removed
2nd bank of Leisure batteries removed
Split charging system wires changed to suit
Shore power charging system rewired
Canopy repaired (after being damaged during winter storms) just needs finishing
Door and window frames repainted
Coppercoat chips touched up and activated

Major improvements
New ladder mounting brackets, so no longer a trip hazard
Kitchen unit fitted with hatch doors, sink, waste, water pump, tap and diverter to fill hot water tank
The wooden crate on the deck has GONE! It will be replaced with a GRP box unit with a hatch, a mirror version on the starboard side. The Port side will have a section that lowers to hold spare cylinders safely, it will also give some extra under cover seating. The starboard side unit will house the kedge anchor and shotline, it will also be another undercover seat.

There were more jobs done but, this gives our customers an idea of what we do to keep Moonshadow Charter Boat in top condition.

We have done so many jobs on Moonshadow in the last month, we still have things to do with just 4 weeks to go before the relaunch.

The galley/kitchen area is the most visible change, next would be relocating the fire extinguishers to better accessible positions. The manual bilge pump.p has also moved to a less obvious position behind where it was.

The diesel heater is fully working again.

The hull has be sanded and painted, currently the middle of repainting the gunwhales.

Other changes include new switch panel for cabin lights, new deck lights, new mast and mast head light. We also have new ladder mounting brackets that are clear of the side entrance, the old system was a trip hazard. The ladder had to be modified too.

On checking everything we noticed there was corrosion on the prop Shaft strut, it wasn't bonded like everything else. Bolts removed and 2 were badly corroded, replaced and strut now bonded. Bilge pump plumbing changed and made more permanent.

There are a lot more things, little things, that are so minor they are not worth a mention, like replacing a fuel pipe to remove a connector.

For several of our customers there has been a major change. The blue crate in the corner of the deck has gone. It wouldn't last another year and to replace it with what we had in mind, is Currently not in our budget.

A constructive day on Moonshadow today. Ruth has started painting the units inside before we fit the worktops. Removed the fuel pipe to the diesel heater, going back to the small external tank. Changed fuel filters. Cleaned bilges and hatch drains. Reconnected the solar panel, to the lift batteries this time. Removed the Leisure batteries, they are not needed now the microwave has gone. Then had to reroute the split charging and mains charging wiring.

Took this photo 2 days ago, the new kitchen area, or galley to those of that particular slant. It now has the hot water heater fitted, as well as the end. Took off the old deck lights, ready for some better, brighter and hopefully reliable. Hull is being sanded above the waterline, for another coat of paint.
