Oxford, home to Oxford University, established in the 12th century and the oldest in the English-speaking world. This gorgeous city was nicknamed “City of Dreaming Spires”.
The colleges are not grouped on a “campus” but scattered throughout the city. Not all are open to the public so if you want to visit any of them, check for hours of availability.

The beauty of being moored so close to Oxford is being able to pop in and really enjoy this incredible city.

Had the chance to explore the Covered Market and grab a pie from Pieminster.

An absolute must do!!!!

I think Wendy and I have finally fallen into the rhythm of canal time.

Ratty was right in Wind in the willows, nothing better than messing about in a boat as the day and world passes by.

Even now, as we sit at a water point refilling the water used by a load of washing, it’s just an amazing, calming scene.

We’re finding one of the nicest parts of canal life is learning about and becoming a tiny part of each community you moor near. We’ve learnt so much more about Kidlington now than we did when passing through in 2023!

Visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is amazing with free entry!!! We discovered it when we stayed at hotel overlooking it. It houses art and archeological exhibits and was founded in 1683. So many exhibits — it can be a maze. Did managed to lose the hubby a few times and had to ask docent to help find him, lol.

We both agreed, we are living the retirement we dreamed of. A nice walk along a beautiful canal to a small town only to find a cute local coffee shop.

Grab a few groceries from a small tesco’s and then stumble across other things to explore on this lazy Sunday.

Had the opportunity to cruise! The sun came out to join us from Lower Heyford to Thrupp. The Cherwell River was kind enough to let us and others navigate the short stretch between Baker and Shipton Weir locks.

Laurence unfortunately lost his detachable iPhone SSD and all the other footage on it. But we had enough video on the iPhone itself to share with everyone!

Check out Wendy vying for her CRT credentials at the lock!!!
