It's all set to be good times and a boogie wonderland at the Overstrand Club this Saturday night (Sep 5), as a disco inferno ensures revellers get down tonight and dance, dance, dance.

Handbags are the theme but it's not just ladies night. No - it's raining men.

It's the perfect - September - cure for any Saturday night fever and you should be dancing to some hot stuff.

Get lost in music with DJs Fairy and Atters, do the hustle, play it daddy cool, and everybody dance.

COME AND SING TONIGHT!

The Belfry Community Choir meets tonight - Wednesday.

We are in the back room at the White Horse tonight - September 2 - meeting at 7.30pm.

(Once a month in the pub. The rest of the month at the Parish Hall)

All abilities welcome.
£5 a session towards room hire

Come and join the Belfry Community Choir.

We meet once a week - ON A WEDNESDAY EVENING - at the Overstrand Parish Hall, on The Londs, at 7.30pm.

(except the first Wednesday of the month (Parish Council meeting!), when we meet in the White Horse)

Each session costs just £5 and lasts two hours.

The repertoire is mixed (folk, pop spiritual) and all abilities are welcome.

You don't need to be able to read music.

It's a fun, community choir where we all sing together.

Don't be shy. The welcome is warm and it's good for the soul, spirit, and your sanity.

WALKING OVERSTRAND

Poppyland, the Village of Millionaires, Black Shuck, Churchill and more...

If you want to discover the secrets and stories of Overstrand, join local historian and author Tim Bennet for a fascinating guided tour of the village.

The walk lasts from 90 minutes to an hour and costs just £10.

Overstrand is hosting the ultimate foodie festival this September, with a culinary spectacular that will satisfy the most demanding appetite.

The Overstrand Sports Ground is hosting a Family Food and Drink Festival on Saturday September 19, from 11.30am to 7pm.

As well as a selection of the region's finest food and drink, there will be entertainment, games, music, and more...

It promises to be a fabulous day out and a Taste (of Overstrand) Sensation....

SWEET TALK

Experience an afternoon of apicultural delights, when The Strand Club hosts bee master extraordinaire Barry Walker-Moore, on September 9.

‘Barry the Bee’ is talking and demonstrating honey, bees, and wax; enjoy some informed insight into these incredible insects.

Huge congratulations to The Strand Club for its recent fund-raising efforts for the charity Break.

Here’s the official report:

On Wednesday, August 12th 2026 members of the Strand Club in Overstrand hosted a “cake and coffee” morning to continue to raise money for the local charity, ”Break”.

The charity provides opportunities and support to young people and assists them towards independence and encourages their abilities to thrive.

The variety of stalls and hard working members created a happy and welcoming atmosphere and in particular the home baked cake stall was very popular. The very attractive raffle prizes caught the visitors’ attention and tickets were soon selling fast.

The Club extends a big thank you for the generous prizes donated by many of our local businesses.

A representative from the charity was present and helped us to welcome visitors and at the same time providing much information about their mission and purpose.

The event went well and raised £503.86 funding for the charity’s important work supporting young lives.

A MUSICAL DATE FOR THE DIARY

The Poppyland Singers are performing a one-off free concert in St Martin's Church at 7pm, on September 12.

Expect a lively repertoire of choral, classical, and contemporary music.

It promises to be a magical night of music in St Martin's.

Admission is FREE.
