Looking for a perfect cliff walk?
How lucky were we with the weather while we stayed in Argyll and the Inner Hebrides?
Still can’t believe that we basically had a week of sunshine.
A perfect location for beautiful cliff walks to see the stunning landscape of the islands surrounding Oban and the west coast of Scotland was definitely the Isle of Seil.
Seil is part of the Slate Islands and while small, it is definitely worth a trip - especially since you don’t need a ferry ride!

When we hiked up to the cliff, we obviously had perfect weather. But I truly needed a navigation app to even find the path. So be aware if the conditions aren’t great.

Honestly, if I’m not the perfect example of why you should always have navigation, I don’t know who is 😆
While I seem to have really good orientation and intuition, I question if I’m on the “correct” path ALL the time.

Do you know that feeling?

Honestly. Who sold this to me? Who can I blame for me willingly hike up hills and mountains?

Oh, right. It was me.

My lovely parents are celebration their 50’s anniversary - I know, I know, hard to believe (especially since I simply can’t be a grown up 😆) - and I decided to take them on an epic road trip through Scotland.
First stop: Edinburgh
Second stop: a week by Oban

It is such an honour and privilege that I am able to show them all my favourite places and explore new ones together.
I love this country so much and to share my love with them means everything to me.

Here are all the places they’ve been to in this post:

📍The Wee White House, Glencoe
📍Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh
📍Edinburgh Castle
📍St. Gile’s Cathedral, Edinburgh
📍Ferry on our way to Lismore
📍High Street, Fort William
📍Isle of Lismore
📍Scone Palace, Perth

Stay tuned, because there are so many more adventures to share!

Beautiful Cairngorms, I love you so much 💚
The Cairngorms are probably one of my favourite places in Scotland.
This is where I climbed my first mountain. This is where the Northern Lights blew me away for the first time. This is one of the places that made me fall in love with this awe-inspiring country.
You have everything in the Cairngorms: Beautiful Lochs such as Loch Morlich, deep forests, wildlife, mountains and so many outdoorsy activities.

Have you explored this area of Scotland?

💡Have you ever heard of the Isle of Lismore?
Me neither.
That is until we stayed close to Oban and decided to visit some of the islands close by.
Lismore is an 1 hour ferry ride away from Oban. If you do not rely on a car, you can also take the 10 minutes ferry from Port Appin.

✨It truly is a little hidden gem in the Inner Hebrides.
If you are looking for a place to slow down, let the islands feelings get you and use your feet, this is the place to go.
Almost all places to visit are only reachable by foot or by bicycle.
🥾We decided on a wee walk to Castle Coeffin. If you are lucky, you will see horses grazing in front of the ruin. For us it was only sheep.
It is a walk with some pretty steep areas the closer you get to your goal, but it is truly worth it.

☕️ There is one cafe, the , which I highly recommend. They even have their own dog menu and self made ice cream. The view from the cafe is beautiful.

🐕 Sheep, sheep and even more sheep. It’s a place to keep dogs on a leash!

It was truly a beautiful day to explore some island life!

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks” - John Muir.

If that isn’t the truth, I don’t know what is. To describe the feeling of being out in nature with my dogs, I almost have to be a poet. Peaceful. Connected. At home.

How lucky am I to have these beautiful companions to share my adventures with? 🐾🥰

Scone Palace - I wanted to come and visit this place for a while now.
We finally managed to see it!
I am a huge fan of the history of Robert the Bruce and the Independence Wars. So naturally, I also had to explore the place where he was crowned as king.
In fact, Scone Place (prounounced Scoone - not like the yummy, baked good scone) is of extremely significance for all Scottish kings.
If you haven’t sat on the holy stone while being crowned, does your crown even mean anything?
Now home of the Earl of Mansfield, Scone goes all the way back to 843 and Kenneth MacAlpin, King of the Scots.

💡 Did you know that Edward I stole the stone in 1296 and brought it to Westminster Abbey where it stayed until the 1990’s?
However, in the 50’s two Scots stole the stone and brought it back to Scotland, only for Westminster Abbey to seize it again.
Only in 1996 did the Scots get their Stone of Destiny back.

🐕 Dogs are very welcome at Scone Palace. They are allowed in the gardens and grounds as well as in the Old Kitchen to enjoy the great food Scone Palace serves.
Only inside the palace, dogs aren’t allowed.
