Disaster!!
Well as much as I like to say every load from collection to delivery goes perfect, the truth is it sometimes doesn't.
We quite often come up against road closures, heavy traffic, bad road conditions, long waits at collection/delivery and grumpy forklift drivers but on this occasion it was the case of collection point not stacking & securing the pallet (I use more cling film on my sandwiches) before loading the goods on board.
So while I had my back turned sorting the paperwork out the forklift driver zooms out with this dodgy pallet of lengths of foam plonks it any old way on the bed and when I returned to see this pallet looking like a disaster waiting to happen I didn't have much confidence 🤦🤔.
There was only one thing for it ........the ratchet straps and lots of them.
Luckily I always keep more ratchet straps than I actually need.
So there I was criss crossing these straps over this pallet of foam treating it like a pallet of explosives in hope it doesn't move a inch.
After feeling a little more confidence I then proceeded to tentatively make my way to Norfolk and after 30 minutes being on route to delivery, that dreaded moment when every driver in this profession dreads and you see in your mirror the curtains bulging 👀😔.
So as you can see in these photos this was what I was greeted to after pulling over in a safe place 🤦.
Photos was taken and sent to the customer and after a hour and half restacking these long length of horrible foam (I roughly counted 1000 but loss count after that), which I can only describe as playing Jenga without physically touching them and at one point I felt I was being swallowed alive by foam.
I got the load safely to Norfolk and delivery completed, pleasing both customer and delivery point.
The moral of the story on this occasion is even when nothing goes our way and disaster happens, every effort goes into resolving the situation and getting the goods delivered safely preventing goods being damaged or held up in transit.
PS: No foam was damaged in the process.
