Whispering Reeds Boats Ltd Situated at the head of Hickling Broad we are ideally placed for you to enjoy a day on the water.

We are a small family owned and run boatyard on the Norfolk Broads. We have Holiday Cruisers, Houseboats, Sailing Boats, Motor Day Boats, Canoes and Rowing Boats.

Spent a lot of today laying down 😂 intentionally I must add!
Gave the Shetland 2 coats of antifoul, she’s looking much fresher for the fish.
Laid under the trailer and bolted the jacking points to it, nice and subtle so they can’t damage legs walking round it!
And the cormorant all back together and rigged ready for the owner 😊

Today we lifted this Shetland out, gave her a good pressure wash underneath ready fresh antifoul tomorrow. A little more paint on the fabricated parts for the trailer. Spot the extra helper in the photo. Adam brought his cockapoo in today, she makes a great yard dog 🐕 😊

Happy Monday! We could finally start assembling the new pad for the cormorant now the varnish had hardened over the weekend. Took the hawk out of the water and put back in her space. Then we were delivered a trailer that would like some modifications to allow use of a Land Rover jack in case of a flat tyre. The parts have been fabricated just waiting for paint to dry and they can be fitted tomorrow. The trailer does look like it wants us to bow down to it! 🙇‍♂️👑

Well today was another good day to be a duck 🦆 ☔️ a little bit of varnishing again today, some landscaping , a bit of housekeeping - nothing really photo worthy.
We have had a fresh re stock of honey at the yard - beautiful wildflower runny honey and some soft set honey for those of you who prefer spreading rather than drizzling.

We pulled this little sailing boat out today, the owner wanted us to have a look at the wood by the mast as it was moving a little when tensioning ropes, closer inspection and a poke revealed it’s a little soft 🙈 de rigged her, tucked her away in the workshop away from the thunderstorm and set to making a new one , all edges epoxied ready to sand tomorrow and start adding varnish.
Got some tree pruning done once the lightening stopped! Not the greatest place to be with metal masts everywhere!

Happy Monday ☔️
Sometimes towing doesn’t always go to plan for people. This was brought to us after recovery as it was going to be moored nearby. We had just enough height to lift the boat off both trailers and launch her.
More strimmer action around the yard today after a little bit of carburettor cleaning 🙈 makes a change from playing with outboard carburettors!

A little different to yesterday’s weather! Had to move this boat this morning round to it’s new mooring, its a bilge keel and it has been stuck on one of our moorings since the water level dropped weeks ago 🙈 done some more strimming / lawn mowing - a little bit of boat tetris around the slipway and gantry as we finally had a calmer day to move boats back after working on them.
we also had a boat get launched down the slipway - driver was brilliant! Gave them a helping hand with a stuck steering cable. The boat is new to them and every day is a school day 👍🏻 Have a great weekend!

A little bit of a grass cutting morning in between showers and then it came to an end with more than a shower 🙈 so we retreated indoors, caught up on jobs lists, mooring requests etc and then managed to get a break in the weather and launch the hawk ready for her owner coming tomorrow. Then in typical British fashion we had hail in June!! 🙄
