WHAT ARE THE BEST PACKING MATERIALS FOR FRAGILE ITEMS WHEN MOVING HOUSE?

Recently, we asked YOU — our followers — what you’d like to see more of on our social media.

One of the topics you asked us about was how to properly pack fragile items for moving.

So, straight from our removals team — here are a few things worth knowing. 👇

First: the right packing material depends on what you’re packing.

Professional packing isn’t about wrapping everything in as much bubble wrap as possible! 😉

For most household moves, we use a combination of:

📦 Strong double-walled removal cartons – good-quality boxes designed to withstand handling and stacking.

📰 Clean packing paper – essential for individually wrapping crockery, glasses, china and ornaments.

🫧 Bubble wrap – additional cushioning for suitable delicate items where extra protection is required.

🖼️ Picture & mirror protection – framed artwork and mirrors require particular attention, including suitable cartons, corner/edge protection and wrapping.

↔️ Void filling – one of the most important parts! Empty space allows belongings to move inside the carton during handling and transport.

A few professional packing tips worth saving:

✔️ Wrap fragile items individually.
✔️ Pack plates on their edge rather than flat, with suitable protection between them.
✔️ Keep heavier items in smaller, strong cartons — large boxes are better for lighter belongings.
✔️ Don’t overfill cartons, but don’t leave contents loose either.
✔️ Label fragile cartons clearly — but remember…

⚠️ Writing “FRAGILE” on a box doesn’t protect what’s inside. Proper packing does.

“Can you move our entire pharmacy?”

That was the question. Our answer? Absolutely. 🚛

It all started a few weeks earlier, when Evelina visited the pharmacy in Kettering for an in-person survey — meeting the team, assessing the move and planning exactly what would be required.

Fast forward a few weeks, and last Saturday our team was back in Kettering to complete the full commercial relocation for Sage Pharmacy, moving the business from 18 Headlands to its new location on Hawthorn Road.

And this wasn’t simply a case of loading a van and moving from A to B.

Pharmacy units and shelving had to be carefully dismantled, protected, transported and professionally reassembled at the new premises — with our team handling the relocation from start to finish.

For a working business, downtime matters. Completing the move over the weekend helped minimise disruption and get everything back into place, ready for customers.

From the initial survey and planning to the final reassembly — one complete commercial relocation, handled by ASP.

Today our team is helping with a special relocation from Lutterworth to a retirement village in Grange Park, Northampton.

Our client’s father is moving into his new home at the wonderful age of 102 years old! ❤️

Our team took care of everything with extra care — carefully loading his belongings, packing and protecting pictures and fragile items, and safely transporting everything to his new home. 📦🖼️🚛

At 102 years young, a new chapter deserves a little extra care. ❤️

Wishing him lots of happiness and comfort in his new home!
