Where do reasonable adjustments stop?

A common concern around reasonable adjustments is that making things more accessible somehow means lowering standards.

It doesn’t.

Reasonable adjustments are about removing barriers, not removing expectations. People still need clear objectives, support, feedback and accountability. But they shouldn’t be set up to fail because the workplace hasn’t considered what they need to work effectively.

For example a disabled employee may still need to attend key meetings, but could need accessible technology, captions, a different room or breaks built in.

Inclusion does not mean lowering standards. It means removing unnecessary barriers so people have a fair chance of meeting them.

For managers, this distinction really matters. Done well, reasonable adjustments can improve clarity, performance and trust. It’s also important that everyone understands what has been agreed and how success will be measured.

What’s one reasonable adjustment you’ve seen make a real difference?

From Baby Boomers to Gen Z, today’s workplaces bring together people with very different experiences, expectations and ways of working.

But one of the biggest takeaways from our recent session was that generational differences aren’t as simple as they might seem.

We looked at why it’s important not to let assumptions about someone’s age become assumptions about who they are or how they work.

A few things we took away:
• Generational stereotypes can create bias in the workplace.
• People within the same generation can have very different experiences and expectations.
• Inclusive workplaces recognise differences without making assumptions.
• Fairness doesn’t always mean treating everyone in exactly the same way.
• Understanding different perspectives can help teams work better together.

Ultimately, creating an inclusive workplace isn’t about finding the perfect way to work for every generation. It’s about creating space for people to communicate, contribute and be supported as individuals.

What’s one thing you’ve noticed about generational differences in your workplace?

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that reasonable adjustments give disabled employees an unfair advantage.

In reality, reasonable adjustments are about removing barriers, not creating advantages.

The goal isn't to lower expectations or treat people more favourably.

It's to make sure disabled people have a fair opportunity to access, participate in and succeed at work.

When managers understand this distinction, conversations become more constructive, decisions become more consistent, and workplaces become more inclusive.

Creating an inclusive workplace starts with understanding what reasonable adjustments are designed to achieve.

We'll discuss:

-Practical ways to create a workplace where people of all ages can thrive.

Whether you work in HR, manage a team or simply want to build a more inclusive workplace, we would love you to join us.

Is your organisation ready for training? 📋

It's a question we don't think is asked often enough.
Many organisations invest in training because they want to make progress. However, if leadership, systems or workplace culture aren't ready, even the best training can struggle to create lasting change.

That's why we developed our Diagnostic & Readiness Assessments.

Rather than asking, "What training do you need?", we start by asking different questions:

✅ Are managers confident and consistent?
✅ Do people feel psychologically safe to raise concerns?
✅ Are your systems supporting inclusion, or relying on individuals?
✅ Is there a clear foundation to build from?

Each assessment takes around 5–7 minutes to complete and uses a simple 🚦Red, Amber and Green framework to help organisations understand their current level of readiness.

🎯 Sometimes the outcome is that you're ready to move forward.
🔍 Sometimes it's identifying a small number of priorities that will have a much greater impact before any training begins.
⏸️And sometimes the right answer is to pause.

We're comfortable saying that, because our aim isn't simply to deliver training, it's to help organisations make informed decisions that lead to meaningful, sustainable change.

💡 If you're wondering where to start, our diagnostics are designed to provide clarity before committing time, budget and resources.
