As the weather isn’t expected to improve for at least a week, I’m working on an alternative plan to clear the other parcels. It’ll take a day or two to organise, so I appreciate your patience.

I will get what I can done today, however I’ll be stopping work at sunset (approx 4pm). Roads are fine with a bit of snow on them, different when it freezes overnight.

I’m self employed, my vehicle is my own responsibility, without it I have no income.

So you wonder why so many parcels go missing… well in my first round cage today, I have a “Miss-Sort.”

A parcel’s journey goes from the Main Sorting Hub, I think there are 3 in the country, to the Regional Sorting Hub, from there to the Local Depot where the courier will collect the parcels for delivery.

Parcel in picture 1 should have gone from the Main Hub on Lorry 10 to Liverpool Regional Hub, instead it has ended up on Lorry 55 to Lutterworth (mistake 1 not noticed). This should have been flagged up when scanned in Lutterworth and rerouted to Liverpool. It wasn’t.

It then has gone on Van 74 from Lutterworth to Northampton (mistake 2). It has been scanned at Northampton local depot and instead of being flagged as a miss-sort, it has ended up in my cage with my parcels, drop 21.

The tracking will now tell the customer “It is at your local hub and will be delivered today.” Why? because the system only registers it scanned by a local depot scanner, not that it’s the wrong local depot 163 miles away from the delivery location!!

So, that problem could have been rectified a lot sooner in the parcels journey and possibly even out for delivery today. Instead it will probably take about 48hrs longer for the customer to get their parcel, if it successfully travels through the network on its 2nd attempt.

So in early December, Evri signed up to TipJar for couriers to receive tips from customers offering 4 and 5 star reviews...

New for 2026…

After delivering to the villages for nearly 6 years, I’ve had a breakthrough idea…

To make things far more convenient for everyone, I’ll now be selecting the “deliver to neighbour” option for all your parcels — with my house being the lucky collection point.

Waiting on multiple deliveries across a few days? No problem at all. Just wait until I’ve got the full set, then pop over and collect them in one go. Much easier than me making 3 or 4 separate trips to your house, right? 😁🤭

(Obviously said with tongue firmly in cheek… before anyone reports me to the delivery police!)

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s shown such incredible generosity over the past few weeks.

Tips are never expected, but during the busiest time of the year they genuinely make a massive difference to morale — especially when the days start early, finish late, and the car never seems to be empty.

Between the biscuits, chocolates, alcohol (which will absolutely be put to good use 🍻) and a very healthy amount of festive appreciation that definitely wasn’t counted, weighed or written down anywhere official 👀… it’s been hugely appreciated.

It’s gestures like that which make the hard days a lot easier and remind me why I love delivering to such great people.
