Would you like to have an exclusive, in depth, behind the scenes tour of the Northampton & Lamport Railway?

On Sun 29th June we're offering an 'access all areas' tour for up to 10 people which includes the following:
🥪Free breakfast followed by a talk on the history of the NLR and the current development plans.
🚂A brake van ride (diesel shunter) to our Bridge 13 repair project, with a talk on the project's progress.
🚂A visit to Pitsford and Brampton Station Signal Box and our Engineering Department (to see the restoration projects going on).
🚂A train ride Boughton Station to visit the Signal Box there and be given a talk on the future plans for the station.
🚂Finally, a return to Pitsford and Brampton Station and a tour of the steam locomotive shed.

The tour starts at 10am and will go on until around 3pm.

This week (9th-15th June) is Carers Week, which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

At the NLR up to 2 Carers can ride free on our trains when accompanying a fare-paying disabled passenger (subject to production of suitable ID).

Its National Volunteers Week (2nd-8th June), and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers at the Northampton & Lamport Railway.

Our Railway is run purely by volunteers and without their wonderful efforts we’d be nothing.

Work commenced yesterday on replacing the last 6 timbers on Bridge 13. As a result, the line north of Pitsford & Brampton Station will be closed until the end of July (in the meantime, trains will continue to run as normal between P&B and Boughton).

This essential maintenance work is being carried out to ensure the bridge remains in good condition for the next 20 years or more. Some of the funds to purchase the remaining timbers has come from the public fundraising appeal we launched back in early 2023, when emergency timber replacements were needed keep the bridge open then (4 timbers were replaced).

Thanks in part to the huge success of that appeal, we have recently purchased the remaining timbers and aim to complete the work over the next few weeks. The work will be undertaken by our volunteers on Fridays and Saturdays.

Day 1 saw excellent progress with:
The tent erected for a bit of cover,
Fishplates removed,
Keys and 162 chair screws removed,
The temporary central rail laid,
Lifting out of the west side rails.

The temporary rails will allow rolling 'ironman' gantries to be used to remove the old timbers and install the new ones, before the rails are then replaced and screwed down. The process will then be repeated on the eastern rail.

We're running a diesel service tomorrow (Sunday 1st June).

Trains depart Pitsford & Brampton every hour, on the hour, from 11am-3pm.

Buffet open serving hot and cold food, drinks and snacks.

Souvenir shop and free parking.

The Lancia Motor Club National Rally 2025 is taking place on 20th-22nd June at Sedgebrook Hall, which is literally right next door to the Northampton & Lamport Railway's Pitsford and Brampton Station.

Entry to the festival on the Sunday (22nd) is free. So why not make a day of it and come and admire the biggest collection of Lancias in the UK and also take a trip along our heritage line?

Also, if you're wanting to access the Lancia event by public transport, you can catch the No.14 bus from the town centre to our station at Boughton (Welford Road), hop on the train to Pitsford & Brampton, and walk the last 500m up to the festival.

Trains running hourly from 11am-3pm (depart Boughton 11:20am onwards, last return at 3pm).
