After a great deal of reflection, we have made the difficult decision not to continue Enroute Group CIC beyond 2026.

Over the coming year, we will begin a carefully managed wind-down of our activities. We will continue to support current projects to completion and ensure that Enroute’s research, publications and insights are preserved and remain publicly accessible.

Since Enroute was founded, our volunteers and partners have produced thoughtful, evidence-based work on some of the most complex challenges facing sustainable transport in the UK. We are immensely proud of what has been achieved and deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed their time, expertise and support.

This decision reflects the realities of running a formal organisation on a volunteer basis, not a loss of belief in the value of transport research or the principles that underpin our work.

Enroute welcomes the news, ahead of the full Autumn Budget announcement, that rail fares will be frozen for the first time in 30 years. A key step in levelling the playing field of transport costs, making sustainable transport more affordable for all.

Regulated fares, which include season tickets and off-peak returns, will not see annual price rises for the first time in 30 years, the government announces.
