Just a sad reminder that from Monday you will have to pay for parking in North Berwick 😡😡. Please check the signs where you park as to how long and times you have to pay from . Just to be more difficult and confuse people each Zone is different 😕.

A reminder that we will begin enforcing measures to improve parking management in North Berwick town centre from Monday, 1 June.
The measures include the introduction of three Controlled Parking Zones, waiting restrictions, parking charges, and a permit system.
We announced the 1 June ‘go live’ date in April to provide a suitable period of time for permit registrations and to complete the installation of the scheme’s infrastructure. The scheme is legally enforceable under Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), including requiring payment for charges, and parking attendants will start operating in the town centre from Monday.
We’re in the final stages of issuing permits to applicants and responding to a high level of requests for further information. Permits will be sent out shortly via email while a record of registration numbers submitted by all applicants will be used to ensure vehicles will not face enforcement action if an application is still in progress.

If you find yourself struggling in the water; Float to Live.

👂Tilt your head back with ears submerged
🫁Relax and try to breathe normally
👋Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
🦵It's OK if your legs sink, we all float differently!

🙋🏽Once you're over the initial shock, call for help or swim to safety

If you see someone struggling at the coast:
📞 Phone 999 for the Coastguard
🗣️ Tell them to Float
🛟 Throw them something that floats – don’t go in.

We have scaled back this year .we NO longer do Hires this is due to the shed not being open everyday as Jodie has went back into employment..☀️
Thanks to everyone that has supported us throughout the last 4yrs .😊💙
We're still continuing with our kids groups and Adult social paddles for this season .
You can also book in for 1 to 1 beginners taster session these will be on weekends and evenings . 🌊 ☀️💙

Dunbar Coastguard and RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats responded to a call for assistance today where a surfer got caught in a rip current at Belhaven.

There is some great swell at the surf spots around Dunbar at the moment, but also the danger of rip currents which can be a problem for even experienced surfers as we witnessed today.

If you are heading out on the water this weekend please ensure the conditions are within your ability, and it’s always better to surf with company. We are fortunate to have a great surf school in Dunbar who offer lessons and advice if needed.

Also ensure you understand what rip currents are and how to deal with them (RNLI has some useful resources: https://rnli.org/safety/know-the-risks/rip-currents) and if you are new to the sport, get some lessons - you’ll enjoy the surf more and it’s safer.

The red area on the map shows where a rip current caused problems today at Belhaven - but be aware rips aren’t static.

If you see somebody who you think might be in trouble, don’t hesitate to call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.
