Your May stats have landed, and what a sunny one it was…

Just like our Cornish beaches during that May heatwave, the terminal was a busy one with 42,941 passengers passing through our departure lounge and 1,901 air traffic movements filling the blue skies ☀️

May was the month of Airports UK Health and Safety Week, and our airport did what we do best, coming together as a team to host 27 sessions with over 180 bookings from !

This year we're hoping for a hat-trick, having been crowned winners of the 'Small Airport' category for two years running… talk about 😉

With all this spring sunshine at your , we thought it was only right to crown our very own home, Cornwall, as the destination of the month!

Happy ⭐️

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible Lynne following her retirement last Friday, after an amazing 20 years at .✈️💙

Since joining us in 2005, Lynne has been at the heart of our terminal operations. Rising to Security Supervisor within just three months, she became a trusted leader, a friendly face, and a constant source of support for both colleagues and passengers alike.

Over the years, Lynne’s dedication, warmth, humour and caring nature helped shape the close-knit community we’re proud to have here at CAN. Her presence brought reassurance to every shift and her impact on the team will be felt for many years to come.

This , we’re shining the spotlight on ✈️

This week, our team has gone above and beyond during Airports UK Health & Safety Week 2026, with the goal of proudly defending our title for the third year in a row under our slogan: “Safety: It’s what we do best.” We may have strategically waited until the end of the week before sharing too much. 😉

From PPE and FOD plods to wellness dogs, our 100% in-house team has thrown themselves into every activity with energy, insight, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

Throughout the week, we focused on three key themes:
• Occupational Health Risks
• Mental Health, Wellbeing & Safety Culture
• Climate Change & Safety in Outdoor Operations

Across 35 individual sessions, each activity explored these themes in a practical and engaging way - helping to bring health and safety conversations to new audiences across multiple departments and age groups.

This week has proven that safety at Cornwall Airport Newquay isn’t just a checklist - it’s part of our everyday culture.👏

We’re marking both AirportsUK Health & Safety Week and Mental Health Awareness Week at Cornwall Airport Newquay this week – taking time to focus on the wellbeing of our teams across the airport.

This morning, Jason and Tyler hosted a Women’s Self Defence class at the Fire Station and this afternoon, we welcomed Man down - supporting men’s mental health onsite to discuss men’s mental health, organised by Spencer Spoors. It’s been great to see coming together, learning new skills and supporting one another with our Health & Safety sessions throughout the week.

We also hosted a ‘Regroup & Reboot’ session today (powered by Cornish pasties and cream tea, of course!), giving over 50 people from teams across the entire airport the chance to take a break and catch up with colleagues.

It’s been another brilliant Health & Safety Week at NQY, and there’s still another day to go!
