2026 Recruitment

We will be opening our 2026 recruitment in the coming weeks, but in the mean time if you were thinking of applying this season we recommend taking yourself to your local pool and attempting the timed swim!

Beach Lifeguards have to swim 400m of a 25m pool in under 8 minutes (Ideally in under 7min 30 seconds).

Even if you aren't thinking of applying to become a Beach Lifeguard, it makes a great swim fitness goal for January!

Over the last couple of years I have been project managing the rebuild of a 1969 Moody 44 Carbineer named Calibre.
A huge amount of work and money has been spent and now sadly, due to a change of plans the owner has to sell her. Full details at: https://iow.boatshed.com/moody_carbineer_44-boat-345017.html
She presents an incredible opportunity for someone to take over the project at this stage and whilst there is certainly still a lot to do, we have 'broken the back' of all the nasty hard work. She could be finished at Richardsons Yacht Services Ltd. where they, and the various trades have already provided quotes, or the boat could be launched and moved to another location.
All project plans, including system schematics and a planned equipment list, are included in the sale.

Our Beach Lifeguards will be swimming from Gosport to Ryde tomorrow to raise money for the service.

This year they will be joined by swimmers from Ryde Swimming Club and Lifeguards from West Whittering Beach.

Safety cover will be being provided by Griffin Marine Services and Ventnor Bay Charters

We are aiming for the swimmers to arrive in Ryde at around 13:30 by the Beach Lifeguard HQ
