From October 4, Brits who have had both jabs no longer need a pre-arrival test before entering the UK.

However, you will still need a test on day 2 of being back in the UK.
The new rules will allow this to be a lateral flow test, not a PCR test - a much cheaper option. (Although this won't be introduced until the end of October.)

From the end of next month, you will only need a lateral flow test on day two, although you will have to pay for this as the NHS tests are *not* accepted.
