Funny old world, for the second time in the last few years a white van has pulled up and a very polite person has got out and asked "is this Granary Stables I'm from the RSPCA I've had a report of".
Today it was a vey nice lady who I gave a lovely guided tour of stables to ensure airy and adequate, feed provision and access to bedding more than adequate as was water and because it's winter and we're a flood plain and with the fields being what one would expect a lovely arena for exercise.
She was more than satisfied that there was absolutely no welfare issue.

So why is this a funny old world? - well, mysteriously both visits have immediately occurred after a livery yard hoo ha which people then, generally those who have never even been liveries on my yard get involved providing support to those who have left.

Don't you just love co-incidence?

So to whoever is the supposed horse lover who requested their attendance please may I tell you the RSPCA really have better things to do with their time as there are more than enough real animal welfare issues to keep them fully occupied.

Oh Lord stables available (3) do I advertise or not? Money or sanity?
If interested be prepared to be grilled by a superb group of existing liveries.
Please call Neil 07973 824074 for viewing and to meet the current lot for approval 😂

Latest BHS advice today 24th March reproduced below. As a yard we are now unfortunately closed until the all clear is provided other than for existing liveries.

The British Horse Society is closely monitoring the Government’s advice regarding the Coronavirus outbreak. The situation is changing daily and as a result it is strongly advised that horse owners put together a care plan for their horse should you have to self-isolate or become ill.
We fully appreciate – and understand – the current challenges faced by all our members, to include Approved Centres (ACs) and Accredited Professional Coaches (APCs,) as a result of the unprecedented COVID-19 public health crisis. The Government’s directive as of 20:30 on Monday, 23rd March is for everyone to stay at home unless travel is absolutely necessary.
Horse welfare is critical and grooms or the sole carer for a horse should travel to provide care for horses. Where horses are kept in livery the BHS advises that horse owners respect the protocol put in place by the yard owner or manager and work as a team to agree a care plan for your horse(s).
We are getting a lot of questions in relation to riding your horse, for which there are no specific government guidelines at present. We advise that it is not appropriate to put unnecessary pressure on the emergency services and everyone should make their own individual decision as to whether riding is necessary at this time.
The health and welfare of your horse is your priority. If you have any concerns please contact your vet, yard manager or the BHS and we will do our best to assist you. You can contact us via telephone on 02476 840517 (calls may be recorded for monitoring purposes) or email us at [email protected].
It is also important to look after your wellbeing during these next uncertain few weeks.
Please note, while the guidance is current at the point of publication, it may quickly be superseded following further government updates, or changes to the situation. Please bear with us while we make these changes.

On the dark evenings whilst driving up the track I'm used to seeing the barn owl sometimes swoop the car, the odd deer or the resident badger but tonight was something new.
Initially I thought there were just leaves in the road till Jen said Dad they're not leaves.

Sure enough we stopped and checked and it looks like one species isn't doing too much social excluding this evening!

Drove the rest of the road very carefully and they were everywhere and judging by the number of singles calling out it's going to get very busy later on .......

The geldings aren’t posers at all 😂
