Here is a rough sketch of the railway, it does not show every kink and bend but gives an idea of the present construction. In a previous message Luke says that six members built the present layout which is about right, although other people were involved from time to time. It is roughly 490 feet round the loop and the big chalenge was the topography. Looking across west to east on the site there is a gradual drop of about 15 ft, so the eastern side is elevated on embankments which give a bank up to 7ft high, all of which had to be made up. No machines were used, all was done by hand tools and wheel barrows. Earth shifted was in excess of 110 tons over four years. Our first open day using the full loop plus high line gave us a ticket count of 700 rides! The railway is currently closed whilst we sort out a few track design problems that came to light and will advertise our next open day in due course. As I said earlier, the sketch is just that and may alter with time as there is still much to do.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who turned up today. We had some minor track issues that we need to look at but at one point the queue for the trains was 50 people long. Thank you to Henry from Henry's adventures on you tube for filming the track today we look forward to your video thank you to Rob and Tony who brought 5 stunning locos to the railway. Lots of comments about the goose today thank you to Joe and Steph who brought the 14XX steam loco to the line hopefully next time we can get it to run. Most of all thank you to everyone who came and who donated this railway was built by 6 people 1 of whom has sadly passed away we had the tram named in his honour it was out on the line today. He was the greatest scrounger of all time he could get anything for us at a knocked down price or even free. Here's to you Gerry hope we did you proud.
