Montrose Port Authority

Montrose Port Authority We are the port of choice for key oil and gas suppliers, and the growing offshore renewables and deco

Nestling in a sheltered haven on the river Esk, within a mile of open sea, the thriving port of Montrose offers a cost-effective alternative for vessels using Scotland's East Coast. Excellent road and rail links provide Montrose with speedy access to the heartland of Scotland and the main arteries in all directions. Developed on both the north and south banks of the river, the port offers around 1

000 metres of quayside, equipped to deal with a broad variety of commercial and oil related cargoes. Extensive storage facilities comprise both open ground for general storage or fabrication and repair work, and warehousing for long-term use or as transit sheds. High standard office accommodation and engineering workshops are also in close proximity to the quayside. The secret of the port's success lies in its approach to customers. Attentive individual service, competitive pricing, fast efficient loading and unloading ensure that users return to Montrose time and again. The port has an interesting history which can be traced back to the 12th century. Recent years have witnessed substantial development, mainly as a result of the advent of North Sea oil. The port was one of the first to develop a special oil support base to cater for the needs of the offshore industry. Montrose has built a reputation as a perfect centre for international trade and distribution throughout Scotland and Northern England.

It was great to welcome students from Dundee and Angus College's Futures in Offshore Wind course alongside Vestas a few weeks ago.

The group toured our facilities and stepped aboard the ESVAGT Brint, Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm's service operations vessel, to experience what day-to-day life looks like for offshore wind technicians on the vessel.

These students are the very first cohort of the Futures in Offshore Winds course, accreditated by Vestas, and set to run from the Skills Academy at Customs House once restoration of the building is complete.

It was a pleasure to welcome The Duke of Edinburgh to our port earlier this week, recognising our progress in decarbonisation through our shore power facility, Plug Montrose.

During the visit, His Royal Highness saw the ongoing restoration of Customs House and plans for the future offshore wind Skills Academy, as well as touring Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm's operations and maintenance base to see first-hand how Scotland's largest operational offshore wind farm is run.

A big thank you again to everyone who was involved in the visit, especially the pupils of Ferryden Primary School for their fantastic flag waving!

What an eventful day we had at the port yesterday, welcoming The Duke of Edinburgh for his first official engagement in Angus since receiving the title.

Prince Edward got a first-hand look at our role in supporting offshore wind with a tour of Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm's operations and maintenance base, gaining insight into the project's day-to-day runnning.

We were also proud to highlight our shore power facility and share progress on the future Skills Academy, currently taking shape within the historic Customs House.

A lovely highlight was including pupils from neighbouring Ferryden Primary School, who gave the Duke the warmest of welcomes.

Our thanks go to Lord Lieutenant Patricia Sawers and her team as well as SSE, Pert Bruce Construction Ltd and Dundee and Angus College for their involvement.

Proud to see Customs House being restored to its former glory.

Here's a comparison to what the building looked like before the restoration began and how it looks now that it's wind and watertight.

You can find out more information on the restoration here: https://montroseport.co.uk/customs-house/

A big thanks to local contractor Pert Bruce Construction Ltd as well as other partners involved in the project: Adam & Gordon Architects, Hardies Chartered Surveyors and Ramsay & Chalmers.

Thank you to Montrose Junior Community Council (JCC) for sharing this video from their first meeting of the year, hosted at our port. It was great to see young people from all six primary schools working together and showing such passion for our town.

Our Business & Marketing Manager, Cat, was also delighted to present the newly appointed council members with their JCC badges. 👏
