We are pleased to confirm that we have found an alternative to building a train care centre (TCC) in Fulbourn, South Cambridgeshire.

Following extensive work with Network Rail and train operators, the new approach is to provide train care and stabling facilities at a combination of existing sites on the rail network elsewhere in the Eastern region, none of which are in Cambridgeshire.

The revised proposal is set to offer better service improvements as well as being better value for money.

More than 400,000 journeys have been made through Cambridge South station in its first 100 days of operation.

The station is already making it easier for thousands of people to reach the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the world's leading centres for research and innovation, while also providing easier access to Addenbrooke's Hospital for patients, staff and visitors.

Cambridge South will also be a key station on the future East West Rail network, with services connecting Cambridge to Oxford, Milton Keynes and Bedford, improving access to jobs, housing, education, healthcare and days out across the region.

These sessions will allow people to view the updated designs and speak directly with our team to learn more about the proposals and next steps for the project.

We’ve published revised plans for car parking at Bedford station, following extensive engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

The proposals explore the potential for a community hub and GP surgery within the Ashburnham Road multi-storey car park, subject to further development.

The revised design has been shaped by feedback on previous car parking options and their potential impacts on traffic, residents and station users and aims to best meet Bedford’s long-term regeneration ambitions.

Salford Road, Aspley Guise - Works completed ahead of schedule🚧

We’re pleased to confirm that the planned five-day works on Salford Road, Aspley Guise, have been completed significantly ahead of schedule, enabling the road to reopen 4 days earlier than expected.

Completing the works early has reduced disruption for residents, businesses and road users while enabling our teams to safely deliver the required construction activities.

We would like to thank everyone affected by the closure for their patience and understanding throughout the works.

Road closure: Salford Road, Aspley Guise starts today🚧

Salford Road will have a full road closure 24 hours a day from 28 September–2 October 2026. See the animation for the diversion route and full details.

We will be carrying out trial holes to identify and locate existing underground services in an area adjacent to Aspley Guise station. These investigations are essential to inform the design and delivery of the future works.

A signed diversion will be in place, please allow extra journey time. Pedestrian access to Aspley Guise station will remain open.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these construction works.
