Why not take a nostalgic journey back in time, as we are running Steam & Diesel trains, and kids go free!*

📆 Saturday 5th: Diesel hauled service with the first departure from Rowsley South at 11:00. Hop onboard and enjoy a Diesel hauled ride to the past! Services will be hauled by Class 09 09001, courtesy of the Heritage Shunters Trust.

📆 Sunday 6th: Steam hauled Service with the first departure from Rowsley South at 11:00. Hop onboard and enjoy travel as it used to be. Services will be hauled by 750 ‘Waleswood’

Don’t forget, you can travel by train directly from Lincoln, Newark, Nottingham and Derby, where it is then a short walk over the footbridge to our platform at Matlock!

🎟️ Tickets for our standard services are only available on the day from the Booking Office or Ticket inspector on the train. Fares are: Adults/Senior £15 & Kids go free! (*when accompanied by a fare paying adult/senior)

🍽️ Rowsley South Tea Rooms will also be open over the weekend serving a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks.

🎁 Our gift shop at Rowsley South ‘The Goods Shed’ will be open from 10:00 until 16:30, why not pop in a browse our wide range of gifts, books and much more!

❗️It's Archive Tuesday❗️
Station Masters at Millers Dale

Thanks to everyone who supplied us with information on the Station Masters at Darley Dale and Buxton last week!
We return to the quest for information on Station Masters this week to ask if anyone has the names of them from 1937 at which stage Mr A Foster was Station Master. He had been in the post since 1925.
The next information we have is in September 1966 when Pat McCarthy became Area Manager based in Buxton and took on responsibility for Millers Dale station amongst other locations.

If you can add to our knowledge please get in touch.

Millers Dale is a station which deserves more coverage so we have selected two more photos from the archives.

The first is a photo of Jubilee 45674 Duncan on a down relief London Manchester train on 1st June 1963; which was taken by Alan Bryant and is part of the Stan Roberts collection. Jubilees were of course the staple motive power in the route for many years, but the date makes this unusual as it is after the trains were scheduled to be diesel powered from 10th September 1962. Does anyone know if the loco worked through from London or if not, at which point it took over the train?

The second photo is part of a collection Angie Taylor gave us access to and shows staff at the station. This was taken in the 1950’s and shows Reg Mills, Ticket Collector second from the right. Can anyone identify any of the other staff in the photo?

🚨 Darley Dale Footbridge update 🚨

A massive thanks to all those who continue to put their time and effort into helping progress this project!

Bridging the Past - Footbridge Update

After a delivery on Thursday 27th August 2026, we now have almost all of the bridge components on site at Peak Rail’s Rowsley.

The notable exception is the bridge span, which is still at Steelway in Wolverhampton who have been undertaking the conservation and rebuilding work.
