✈️AIRPORT UPDATE –EES SYSTEM✈️

I’ve travelled to Tenerife, Lisbon and Athens over the last 4 weeks, and one of the questions I’m being asked the most is about the new EES airport system and whether the queues are as bad as being reported.

From my personal experience… absolutely fine 😊

On arrival in Tenerife and Lisbon, passengers were required to complete fingerprint scans and eye/facial recognition as part of the new Entry/Exit System. Athens wasn’t using it during my visit.

Yes, there were queues, but they moved fairly quickly and the process itself only took a couple of minutes. Some airports definitely seem better organised than others, but overall the experience has been very smooth.

Coming home was also very straightforward, and honestly I’ve experienced none of the huge delays that have been mentioned in some reports.

As always with airports, allowing extra time is sensible, but based on my recent travels there’s definitely no need to panic ✈️☀️

If anyone has any questions about travelling to Europe this summer, feel free to message me

As you know I’m just back from a wonderful stay in Cascais , Portugal .

I just wanted to recommend where we stayed !

The Pestana Cidadela Cascais …

This hotel is in a fabulous location in the art district, an easy stroll to the marina, old town, beaches and Boca do Inferno.

Breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant with stunning views over the marina and we were able to dine outside each morning, which felt so special.

Service was excellent, with a complimentary late check out, plus a beautiful outdoor pool and an indoor pool with sauna for a bit of extra pampering.

In the square just outside there are a couple of lovely little cafés/bars and an art gallery, so there is always something to wander to and enjoy.

The hotel was exceptional and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Cascais.

If this sounds like your kind of escape, I would love to help you plan your own stay.

Sometimes the value of having your own personal travel expert really shows itself.

Last night one of my families was offloaded from their flight home from Orlando because their little one was unwell.

They were reassured they’d been rebooked for today, so went back to their hotel believing everything was taken care of.

This morning we discovered there was no record of a new booking and they were showing as a no show on yesterday’s flight.

In reality, they were on the brink of being stranded in Orlando with no flight home, and were seriously considering paying for new flights with a different airline.

We even sent them back to the airport to speak to an airline representative, only to find no one from the airline was available at all. There wouldn’t be anyone at the desk until check in opened for that evening’s flight, which would have been cutting it dangerously fine if they hadn’t actually been rebooked or if there was no availability left.

While they tried to look after their poorly child, I spent the afternoon working behind the scenes: calling the airline, live chatting, emailing, and getting nowhere.

As a last resort I reached out to the airline on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) and within 30 minutes their flights were confirmed and they were definitely rebooked on to this evening’s service home.

Instead of being stuck and out of pocket, they can now relax knowing they are guaranteed to fly home tonight.

Their child is feeling much better today too, which is a huge relief for everyone.

This is exactly why booking with a personal Travel Counsellor matters: when things go wrong, you are never on your own.

If you’d like that same level of care and support on your holidays, get in touch and let’s start planning your next trip.

Cascais, you’ve been magical – the perfect setting for a special birthday with my school friends.

Three wonderful nights in Cascais celebrating a special birthday with my school friends, staying at the Pestana Cidadela Cascais inside the old citadel walls.

Cascais is such a gem on the Portuguese coast:

just 30 minutes from Lisbon, it has all the charm of a traditional fishing town, with elegant squares, cobbled streets and a lovely marina, plus long Atlantic beaches and a beautiful promenade for seaside walks.
We’ve wandered the old town, watched the waves crash at Boca do Inferno, and walked the stunning coastal path all the way to Estoril.
While we were here there were festivals on, music playing and a real feeling of happiness in the streets, which made it feel even more special.

It is the perfect place to combine with Lisbon: city buzz and culture there, relaxed coastal living here.

If Cascais and Lisbon are on your wishlist, let me know and I’d love to help you plan something similar.

Dreaming of your next escape? You’re not alone.

Travel demand is booming right now and I’m seeing some clear favourites for 2026 get snapped up fast.

This year, bookings are already tracking ahead of last year, especially for:

🇫🇷 France
🇬🇷 Crete
🇭🇷 Croatia
🇿🇦 South Africa
🇨🇦 Canada
🇹🇿 Tanzania
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka

These destinations are seeing strong year‑on‑year growth, which means the best hotels, room types and flight times are selling quickly. If any of these are on your wish list, now is a great time to start planning rather than waiting and risking limited choice or higher prices.

I’m also seeing huge growth in cruise, with more of my customers discovering how effortless it can be to unpack once and wake up in a new destination each day, with exceptional dining and service included.

If you’d like tailored advice on where to go, the best time to travel, and how to make the most of your budget, I’m here to help you design a trip that feels truly special.

I have just put together a detailed honeymoon that links Cappadocia, Athens, Naxos and Santorini into one trip.

On paper it sounds simple, but in real life it meant:

✅Matching flight times so they are not arriving at midnight with no onward connection.

✅Picking the right order of destinations so they are not doubling back or wasting days travelling.

✅Checking ferry routes and seasonal schedules to make sure they actually run on the days we need.

✅Choosing hotels that work with those timings, so they are not stuck waiting around with luggage.

✅Planning transfers at each step so there is always someone waiting for them, rather than hunting for taxis after a long journey.

✅Building a sensible pace into the itinerary, with time to rest as well as explore.

The end result is a honeymoon that flows properly from start to finish, rather than a collection of separate bookings they have to piece together themselves.

If you like the idea of a trip like this, but do not want the headache of working out how it all fits, I can help you plan something that works smoothly in practice.

Half term is officially in full swing and it is BUSY in the best possible way !

Over the next week I’ve got:

• Clients sailing through the stunning Norwegian Fjords on a cruise

• Two sets of clients soaking up the sunshine in Ibiza and another in vibrant Valencia

• Families heading off to Turkey, Rhodes and Menorca for beach time and memory-making

• A lovely mum and daughter jetting to Florida for the ultimate adventure

• A fantastic multi-centre trip across Canada

• Football fans flying to Naples to catch a match

• A gorgeous villa escape in Rhodes

• A Greek island hopping trip for a couple chasing sunsets

• A family city break to Lisbon
And that’s on top of clients already away in Canada, Rhodes, Cyprus, across the USA and enjoying life at sea on cruises.

Travel is very much happening, and my wonderful clients are making the most of it.

Next weekend it’s my turn again:

I’ll be heading to Cascais in Portugal with friends to celebrate our 50th birthdays, and I can’t wait to experience it first-hand so I can share even more personal tips with you.

If you’re still thinking about a break, or feeling unsure with everything going on in the world, please don’t put it off.

There are still fantastic options available and I’m here to guide you, give honest advice and find something that feels right for you.

Message me to start planning your next escape.

Still buzzing that I secured one of the early release cabins for my clients for the Queen Mary 2 New York to Liverpool cruise in 2028 . The Four Queens , will all meet for the very 1st time and it’s the only time a Cunard ship has sailed directly in to Liverpool from New York !
