Today was a wet one, and Lee has officially been demoted.

After watching Lee attempt to break up a bed base and somehow struggle to get a trampoline into the van, Ben decided it was time to step up and take on the hard work himself.

Today’s job was actually a simple one. A shed had already been dismantled and just needed loading onto the van.

Easy enough, right?

Well, in true BML style, Lee somehow managed to turn it into what felt like an extra three working days.

All jokes aside, me and Lee genuinely love working together. We spend most days shifting other people’s rubbish, so having a laugh and making the most of it is what keeps the job enjoyable.

Following on from yesterday’s video, Lee seems to have discovered some new superhuman strength.

He’s punching through wood, nursing an injury and, to make matters worse, he’s now decided he’s in charge of BML and is telling Ben what to do.

We’re definitely in trouble.

A lot of our comments have been loving Lee recently, but one question keeps coming up…

Why are we only paying him £5 a day?

So we thought we’d give you a visual representation of exactly what Lee gets up to on a typical day at BML.

Today’s task: breaking up a bed frame.

For anyone wondering, Lee gets paid £5 a day, two ci******es, and if he’s been particularly well behaved, sometimes we’ll even treat him to a sausage roll.

Obviously, that’s only if he hasn’t s**t in the van.

And after we’ve emptied everything out, we generously let him sleep in the back of the van.

Lee spent the night in the van last night, and despite the rain, he was back at it with us today for a smaller general waste collection.

This might be one of our biggest mistakes ever.

We agreed to move over 6,000 bricks in 38 degree heat, and somehow Ben forgot the wheelbarrow.

So instead of making the sensible decision, we ended up handballing all 6,000 bricks. One by one.

Lee nearly died, wasn’t very happy about it, and somehow we still only made £50 from the job.

£40 for Ben and a generous £10 and a night in the van for Lee.

But the real question is, would you have done this job for £50? Would you have charged more, or would you have done it for less?

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM BML WASTE REMOVAL

After all the support and success we’ve had with our recent videos, we’ve seen a big increase in the amount of work coming through, which we’re incredibly grateful for.

But there’s a problem.

At the moment, Ben is still hands-on doing the work alongside Lee, while also trying to deal with customers, enquiries and quotes. Because of that, jobs are starting to fall through the net, and in some cases we’re losing money because we’re having to quote jobs from pictures rather than actually seeing what we’re taking on.

So we’re looking at bringing back one of our old plans: multiple vans out working at the same time.

The difference this time is we’re not going to jump straight into the deep end.

We’ve tried scaling up before and it didn’t go to plan. This time, the plan is to start small, get the foundations right and scale up at a pace the business can actually handle.

The aim is for the team to focus on doing the jobs, while Ben can focus on customers, quoting accurately, bringing in more work and ultimately growing BML properly.
