🚌 Attention followers and bus enthusiasts! 🚌

THIS COMING SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 10AM till 4PM

We’re pleased to announce that TA239 will be attending the Friends of the East Kent, Deal & Walmer Transport Festival! 🎉

This will be our second-to-last event of the year before the 2026 show season comes to an end, and we’re really looking forward to being part of the event.

TA239 will be participating in the free rides along Deal seafront, giving visitors the opportunity to experience this preserved vehicle in action once again. 🌊🚌

Following on from our last post, upon arriving at the storage site on Sunday, we were met with a flat offside front tyre.

Unfortunately, the valve had failed. After replacing the valve, it became clear there was more to the problem than first thought — the valve stem was also bent, meaning the new valve wasn’t sealing correctly.

Luckily, I had a spare tyre, so today it was swapped over and the tyre is now sorted. Another job completed in-house, without the need for an external tyre fitter. 💪🔧

Always good to be able to diagnose and resolve these little issues ourselves!

Since purchasing TA239, the demister has never worked. The original unit was found to be seized solid. Once the new unit was fitted, all of the demister wiring was corroded.

The affected wires were identified and rewired, and the fuse was replaced. Finally, we’re pleased to say the demister is back working once again

Yesterday was a fantastic day out at West Kingsdown, celebrating an incredible 40 years of Orpington Roundabout! 🚌🎉

TA239 performed exceptionally well, tackling the hills with ease and completing four return trips on the 478 between Swanley Station and Gamecock Meadow. 🚌

TA239 got to meet TA1 — the very first TA built for Stagecoach London and the first Trident built for London.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event and helped make it such a memorable day.

The other side of bus preservation that people don’t see is when things don’t quite go to plan 🤣
Unfortunately, wear and tear happens, and today it was my turn! The rubber on the suspension valve that keeps the bus up off the ground decided it had had enough and crumbled, leaving the back end just inches off the floor.
Quick thinking led to me wrapping a rubber glove around it to keep it straight and nursing it back to base, where luckily I had spares. Ten minutes later, it was all fixed and back up in the air! 🤣
I replaced the other side too as a precaution, as it was starting to go as well.
All in a day’s work! 🤣🤣
