Gallagher Group Supporting skills, sustainability and the future of the industry
MC Truck & Bus, alongside Volvo Trucks excitedly attended the Gallagher Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub Event, delivered in partnership with Flannery Plant Hire.
Held at Gallagher’s Hermitage Quarry, the event marked the official launch of an impressive new Skills Hub. This is a fantastic initiative that will provide hands-on training opportunities for local people and those on day release from Kent based prisons, helping participants gain the skills needed to access higher skilled and better paid roles within the construction industry.
As part of the launch event, MC Truck & Bus and Volvo Trucks UK supplied an electric truck to help demonstrate the site’s impressive new six point truck and mobile battery storage charging infrastructure, highlighting the technologies that will support the next generation of low carbon construction projects.
The collaboration between Gallagher Group and Flannery Plant Hire is creating a valuable pathway into the industry while helping to address future skills requirements across construction, aggregates, civil engineering and infrastructure. The event also highlighted Fatima Whitbread’s “Care in Construction” campaign, which is helping to open doors for care-experienced young people through training, mentoring and employment opportunities across the sector.
It was great to see so many industry leaders and stakeholders supporting this and our Key Account Manager, Paul Cogger , even managed to meet Olympic legend Fatima Whitbread among the attendees!
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on both individuals and the wider industry.
