🚛 Meet Ashikov, who manages the transport of our fruit and picking teams! In this profile, Valentin reveals his routine and a funny story…
“I’m Valentin, I joined Chambers in 2009 and I’m the Transport Manager! I organise the transport for our farm employees from their accommodation to our fields and packhouses, plus their shopping trips.
As a fruit grower, we rely on our skilled pickers or there would be no harvest! We all work hard to ensure our colleagues have everything they need while living and working on the farm!
At the same time, I coordinate the lorries that transport our soft fruit. Everyday I manage the drivers’ schedules and allocate tasks. I make sure that our drivers are working safely, following the rules and doing what they have been asked. 😉
We make an excellent team at Chambers, and I’m grateful to be a part of it. There is always work to keep you busy and opportunities to support your colleagues. One time when I was a lorry driver, I got stuck in some mud so the pickers came to help push me out! 😂
I’ve learnt a trick or two about how to pick fruit correctly too. Picking fruit is not as easy as some might think. There is always a better way to pick quickly and harvest more volume."

Farming fruit runs through the veins of the Chambers family, who have been successfully growing fruit in Kent for a number of generations.
Fondly referred to as the ‘Garden of England’ Kent’s mixture of chalk, sand and clay soils and drier climate than the rest of the UK provide the optimum conditions for horticulture, resulting in a heritage that spans centuries.
The current business was set up by WB Chambers in 1952. Third generation owner and present managing director Tim Chambers took over the reins of running the family’s farms in 1990, focusing on soft fruit and cherry production.
Chambers Farm
Established in 1952, the privately owned farming business WB Chambers now grows fruit on 14 locations across Kent, England. Exceeding 350 hectares of production area, we are one of the largest independent cane fruit growers in the UK.
Oakdene Farm Packing
Oakdene Farm Packhouse is sited near Maidstone in Kent, which represents an ideal geographical location for the onward distribution of goods both in the UK and overseas as well as superb links to airports, ports and the Channel Tunnel.
The packing facility is active 24 hours a day, 364 days a year. With our own fleet of chilled transport we can reach any UK location same day.
Working With Growers Worldwide
Chambers enjoys mutually beneficial working relationships with specialist growers worldwide, who all share the business’ commitment to excellence. Relationships have been built by investment in varietal and agronomic developments.
