๐ฎ๐นโค๏ธ๐๐๐ โ ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐ค! ๐ฎ๐นโค๏ธ
๐คIt all started with Friday night in London to see Take That ๐, followed by a dash home to comfort our gorgeous greyhound, who was terrified of the thunder. Then came a 3:30am pick-up and off to the airport to surprise a great friend and begin an incredible adventure in Northern Italy. โ๏ธ
โ๏ธWe spent five nights in Peschiera del Garda, exploring some truly beautiful places around Lake Garda. Sirmione was my absolute favourite, while Limone is a must for the lemon ice cream!๐ We also visited Isola del Garda โ a family-owned island thatโs an absolute must-see in my opinion โ along with Riva del Garda (donโt miss the funicular for breathtaking views), Garda, Bardolino, and even had a very stormy drive through Lazise.
Getting around was all part of the adventure. We used the public ferries (so easy), the local buses (a little hit and miss with timings!), and even hired both a car and a boat.โต๏ธ
๐Next, we headed to our second hotel for two nights in the stunning city of Verona. On our first day, we hired another car and drove north to the beautiful Bassano del Grappa, famous for its magnificent 13th-century wooden Ponte Vecchio spanning the River Brenta and, of course, its production of grappa.๐
๐ผThat evening brought another unforgettable pinch-me moment as we watched the legendary Rod Stewart perform in the park. At 81 years old, in 30-degree heat, he absolutely proved heโs still got it and still knows how to rock a stage!๐ธ
๐Our final day was spent exploring Verona, starting with the obligatory visit to Julietโs House and, of course, a photo on the famous balcony. (Top tip: pre-book your tickets and aim for an early slot between 9โ10am.)๐๏ธWe then wandered over to the magnificent Arena di Verona, where we sat and watched the stage crew preparing for that eveningโs opera โ a performance in itself!๐๏ธ We finished the day with a golf buggy tour, which was a fantastic way to weave through the cityโs charming narrow streets and take in all the sights.๐บ
๐The food was fresh and plentiful, the wine flowed every evening๐ท, and sharing it all with our dear friends Paul and Gaynor made the trip even more special. ๐ฅฐ
