** Haulier's Fleet Curtailed After Driver Repeatedly Removed Tachograph Card**
A Cambridgeshire haulage operator has had its operator's licence reduced from 12 vehicles to just 8 after a public inquiry uncovered serious compliance failures.
DVSA investigators found one driver had repeatedly removed his tachograph card while driving to conceal his driving time, later falsely recording the missing periods as breaks.
The driver in question has now lost his vocational driving entitlement.
The investigation also uncovered wider failings, including:
📍Poor tachograph monitoring
📍Weak driver hours compliance
📍Inadequate maintenance records
📍Lack of documented driver training
📍Failure to properly oversee transport management responsibilities
The Traffic Commissioner described the operator's conduct as "amateurish" and warned that its professional repute now hangs by "the thinnest of threads."
Tachograph fraud and drivers' hours offences are taken extremely seriously. Operators and drivers alike, have a legal responsibility to comply with the rules, with significant consequences for both the operator and the driver who fail to do so.
