The Hymek has had some more work done. Roof grill is now offset to the drivers side, bufferbeams have been cleaned up just awaiting drilling again foe the 3 link couplings. Still lots of bits to add. Made my own former to make some headcode lenses, still needs a bit of work as they need to be deeper but the concept works. Glazing still needs to be acquired but that can wait until nearer paint time. 1 bufferbeam surround needs a bit of a patch as its been chipped and the roof screw plug still needs smoothing off. New bogies have been arranged for all wheel drive dual coreless motors so it will pull well. Just need to sort out power. It may just go basic RC for the time being to give me time to test stuff to see if the original idea for bluetooth control will work but its already looking miles better than it was

47765 has had some more work done to the engine room. Very little visually but the framework has been trimmed down so the walls fit in better without bowing the body sides out and the underframe was finished off so the battery boxes could be fixed into place. Still a very long way to go but next I think will be the Serck shutters over the radiators. Expansion tank pipe over the fan grills is a nice touch I think

Started repairing the lone lima class 43s nose as it appeared to have been in an accident at some point. Still unsure on what to do with this one exactly though as it looks fairly good as is now but I do have the Paxman Valenta engine for it 🤔🤔🤔

Well i got to thinking, got another Playtrain and got to chopping. Took all the internals out of the playtrain, pushed the 06 worm gear onto the motor and made an adaptor for the motor as the shaft on the 06 comes out of the rear of the motor not the front got the charging port and frequency switch fitted into the side of the cab, the in off switch went into the cab too but the actual IR receiver and the on off switch sit in the top of the fuel tank over the engine compartment. Obviously its 4 wheel drive instead of 2 wheel drive like the playtrain so it pulls far more weight and it weighs nearly twice as much thanks to the cast frame. The only bit its missing at the moment is the headlight as that also acts as a charge light. I was thinking of making it into a cab light but that will show off its electronics more and wiring up some directional markers at both ends onto the motor but space is tight in the cab now so the charge/head light may just be put somewhere up on the radiator cowl at the front. Luckily with these playtrains the sound can be turned off if the steam engine noises get annoying but its just as easy to disable the speaker as they are only pressed against the circuit board so a strip of paper in between will shut it up permanently if needs be. As its just a toy I don't mind the wrong sounds so much but obviously ittd be better to get that 204hp Gardner 8L3 singing and a proper air horn but we cant always have everything.
Now I know the concept works I can have a mes with making a bigger one maybe a class 20 or a Lima class 26 ive got lying around spare. That id imagine would need a motor conversion to something along the lines of a 6 volt CD player motor. The 06 could do with a motor upgrade be it a twin shaft motor to ditch the motor adapter so a flywheel can be fitted in the nose or 5 pole 130 size motor as its a little coggy at low speed

Serck shutters and radiator fans removed for improvements, bufferbeams and cowling removed, side door to be hinged (could be the death of the body) control cubicle redone just got to remake all the equipment that goes in it. Waiting on some more supplies to come for it and still got to add some framework inside behind the 4 body side windows to hold pipes and conduit that can be seen through those and the framework that goes in the cab needs redoing again.
