The team were called alongside our colleagues from Mullacott Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of a dog gone over the cliff near Heddons Mouth.
On arrival we met the first informants and set up a standard rope rescue system. The cliff technician descended down the cliff but was unable to see or hear the dog.
Support from Ilfracombe lifeboat was requested to do a shoreline and cliffside search as the Coastguard teams were unable to see all areas due to the size of the cliffs.
After two separate descents by the Cliff Technician without success the lifeboat crew could hear barking half way up the cliff approx 100 meters to the west of our position.
While the teams were relocating our rescue equipment to the new scene, Hector the Pointer appeared on the path unhurt and very happy to see his owners.
A great outcome and a big relief.
