As our shared Solent day trip season draws to a close for another year, our attention shifts fully to the sailing holidays that have been generating so much excitement in 2026 - and to planning what promises to be an extraordinary 2027 season.

We are in Croatia right now. Four weeks of sailing with wonderful guests in some of the finest weather the Dalmatian coast has to offer in late summer.

It is, as it always is in September, extraordinary.

The water at 25 degrees - the warmest it reaches all year.

The summer crowds gone from the anchorages and the harbours.

The restaurants settled into a quieter, unhurried rhythm that brings out the best of them.

The evenings long and golden and entirely reluctant to end.

The weather in Sardinia and Corsica in June is, consistently, among the finest in the Mediterranean.

The mistral - the prevailing northwesterly - blows with a reliability that makes June sailing some of the most satisfying of the entire sailing year.

Warm but not oppressive, with the sea at 22 to 24 degrees and the sky a deep, unbroken blue for days at a time.

The long June days give more hours on the water, more hours at anchor, and those extraordinary northern Mediterranean evenings when the light refuses to go properly dark until ten o'clock.

By July the summer is in full voice and the anchorages are busier. By August the Maddalena can feel crowded. June is the window when Sardinia and Corsica are at their very best - and it is the window that our 2027 guests will sail in.

The food and w**e of Sardinia and Corsica deserve a holiday built around them. Fortunately, the sailing holiday that Escape Yachting offers happens to be exactly that.

On board: meals freshly prepared from the finest local ingredients - fish landed the same morning in the harbour we've just sailed into, produce from the island markets that appear on every stop. All meals and all drinks included. Nothing hidden, nothing extra.

Ashore: Sardinian bottarga - cured grey mullet roe, an umami depth unlike anything else in Italian cooking. Porceddu spit-roasted over aromatic wood. Cold Vermentino di Gallura in a harbour restaurant that has no name on the door and has been doing this since before anyone can remember.

In Corsica: charcuterie from pigs raised on chestnuts in the maquis interior. Brocciu, the fresh sheep's cheese that is specific to this island and irreplaceable. Nielluccio red from the slopes above the coast.

The scenery of Sardinia and Corsica from the deck of a sailing yacht is something that photographs attempt and fail to capture.

In Sardinia: the granite coastline of the north, blood-orange and grey, rising from water that shifts between twenty shades of blue depending on depth and light.

The Maddalena Archipelago, where the islands are sculpted by millennia of mistral into forms that look deliberate and where the national park rules mean the anchorages are pristine in a way that almost nothing in the Mediterranean still is.

In Corsica: the white limestone cliffs of Bonifacio dropping straight into the Strait, the maquis-covered interior visible from the deck, scenting the air with rosemary and lavender and wild herbs before you can even see the coastline.

Together, in one sailing week, they produce scenery that our guests consistently describe as the most beautiful they have ever seen.

Sardinia and Corsica in 2027. We will be back. We cannot wait!

This summer's trips through the Maddalena Archipelago, along the Costa Smeralda and across the Strait to Corsica were as extraordinary as any we have ever made.

The weather was magnificent. The water - that impossible, shifting blue of the national park anchorages - was at its very best. The food and w**e were, as they always are in this part of the world, completely and specifically delicious.

Our guests came home with photographs that don't do it justice and memories that do. Several of them have already been in touch about 2027.
