Interesting day at the Houses of Parliament. The Community Transport Association launched its white paper on D1 licensing and its need for reform. Us and many other Community Transport Groups are facing the challenge of needing people with a D1 on their licence to drive our minibuses. Since 1997 it has required a separate test to have a D1 qualification. That test is cost prohibitive and the CTA is asking how we can ensure we have drivers in the future

Well we didnโ€™t win but was in a group with everyone doing such amazing work. My thanks to Gloucestershire County Council for letting me be part of the evening. Most of all thanks for those who make The Robin such a success in the Forest of Dean. The two Andyโ€™s, Ian, Mark, Pete and Steve, the drivers who go above and beyond every day. The staff in the office answering the queries and making sure everything goes smoothly.
Without them we would not have the success we have and we are so proud of what we have achieved ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿš

Due to the continued expansion of The Robin service, we are looking to increase our minibus drivers.
I am looking for multiple drivers for a service that will cover the Forest of Dean district.
Preference will be given for those living in the local area with a good working knowledge of the Forest of Dean road network.
The service operates six days a week Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm, including some Bank Holidays.
Currently the drivers work an average of 32 hours per week, and the new positions will be up to that.
It is a rolling shift pattern, and you would be expected to work some Saturdays and Bank Holidays and will be working across the day to ensure we have availability of vehicles to the public.
The positions will start from mid-October onwards. You will be required to have a DBS check, undertake minibus training and additional training as required. Pay is above minimum wage.
It is a close-knit team, and we are looking for others to join with the same dedication to a high level of service.
Closing date for applications 9am Wednesday 30th September 2026. Interviews will be held shortly after that date.

Thank you The Victoria Centre Lydney, that means a lot. Our staff and volunteers have faced gruelling temperatures this week and have still made sure all our passengers get to where they need to go.

We have just been informed that Heart of the Forest School will remain closed tomorrow, Friday 26th June.
