A multi terrain race set in the beautiful Mortimer Forest on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. The 10 mile route includes the Rock Garden, & climb to the top of High Vinnalls with far reaching views. The 4 mile route sticks to easier tracks

Right, update time.
You've all been jolly patient, so thank you :) I just need you to hold on for a tad longer, please.
Everything is in place, first aid, catering, prizes, venue, we are just waiting on the final permission from Foresty to sign off on the new route to avoid forest works.
It is, if anything, slightly hillier than the original route, possibly muddier, and maybe, better views. Who knows, you can be the judge on December 13th!

Hi all, sorry for the recent silence, we've been waiting on permissions and have hit a slight snag with planned forestry works over the Bringewood side (Pipe Track and Big Dippers). We will still put the race on of course, but there is a chance that it will have to be a different route, sticking to the main forest side of the road.
It would still be ~10 miles, similar elevation gain and terrain, just not over the beloved Big Dippers (I can already hear your lamentations). On the positive side, there would be no road crossings.
4 mile route will not be affected.

I'm really sorry to post this, but be assured we're working away to still deliver the best winter racing experience to you and a cracking route.
I hope to have entries open August time.

It's me again, finally!
Provisional date for Mortimer Forest Trail Race 2026 is Sunday 13th December, save the date :D
This year we intend to increase entry limit, and donate more to charity, supporting causes that help maintain our wonderful natural resources.

While I have you're attention, Monstay Farm which the race goes through has closed the permissive path from Bringewood to Vinnalls carpark (the fields going to the last road crossing). This is due to some irresponsible dog owners during lambing season, so please do not use this path (it has always been a permissive path, not legal right of way). They hope to reopen it in the future and we have been assured access for the race, but please respect this closure and ensure (wherever you are) you respect the countryside and all other users.
I don't want to put a dampener on the race excitment. We will still be sticking to the same route as the last two years, but we all have a responsibility over our actions and where we run, and are very lucky to have such ready access to beautiful areas. Again, be assured, we will be allowed access for race day.
