Guess who’s back… 🙌

After 6 weeks out of the driving seat, I’m back! I’m signed off fit to drive again with no medical restrictions, and feeling so much better in myself! Eased back in slowly today with a trip to Derby and back on 222019 as 1F37 and 222012 as 1C59.

Thank you to everyone who took time out to message me and kept checking in on me to see how I am, I really do appreciate it 🥹 Happy to be back in the chair and doing what I love! ✨

A fab (and costly 👀) day at The Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes today. It was alot bigger than I expected and there were so many fantastic layouts on display. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to buy before I went and walked away with so much more 🫣

It was great to meet so many of you who came over and said hello too! And also managed a much needed catch up with Lindsay Kaye 🫶🏼 and !

Thank you SO much to everyone who voted for me in the RailStaff Awards nominations. I’m so incredibly grateful to have made it as a finalist for this year’s Rail Ambassador of the Year. A huge surprise to also have been shortlisted as a finalist for Diversity and Inclusion Champion at the EMR Employee Excellence Awards 🥹💜

I genuinely love meeting and talking to people who strive to get into the industry, have a passion for trains or are just curious to how it all works, and I still feel so lucky to have a career I absolutely love, with amazing support from the railway family and community.

Following on from my post about traction, a lot of people mentioned the routes we drive and whether we can drive over any route once we are qualified on the traction. Like traction, the same applies to route knowledge and we have to be assessed on each route before we are allowed to drive it 📝

There are different ways we learn our routes and many things that we need to know, such as every single speed change, the type of signalling and station and junction names to name a very small amount (see post for more) 🚥
