A little throwback Thursday to the Hitachi factory last year 🚆

As part of the Railway 200 celebrations, Hitachi in Newton Aycliffe opened their doors for one day to see inside their train factory. It was a really fascinating day to see how trains are built and how they look at all different stages, from an empty metal shell, to the carriages sitting in massive paint booths, to having them sat outside on the test tracks. It was a bonus that they just happen to be the units that I now get to drive!

After the Greatest Gathering at Derby, I would say this was my next favourite Railway 200 event. Did you manage to get down to this open day? What Railway 200 events did you manage to go to?

Just another train view room… 😍🚆

This time at the Doubletree by Hilton in Leeds (not an ad), which was a fantastic recommendation from alot of you! A flying visit to meet my new baby cousin was a great excuse to check out this hotel and of course travel on the Intercity 225.

This view was taken from room 1103 on the 11th floor, which we were given when I requested a room overlooking the trains through the chat on the Hilton app. There is also a layout of the hotel with room numbers on the app should you want to request a lower floor, or one on the other side overlooking the station.

There were a few recommendations of hotels that overlook the station and lines in Leeds, but would you say the Doubletree has the best views?
