Viewers of the recent BBC Kingdom documentary series might be interested to hear that it was filmed in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia and it mentions the Chipembele Wildlife Rescue Centre.

That centre was founded by Steve Tolan and his wife. Steve is a British ex-Police Officer that we’ve been privileged to help with some security products over the years, as their conservation work chimes with our own efforts here in the UK, although on a rather more grand scale with rescuing orphaned elephants, monkeys, antelope, and even a hippopotamus!

They were also delighted to sponsor a local boy to learn about film camerawork and he ended up working for the BBC as one of the cameramen on the Kingdom series! Sadly, much of the work they do is combating poaching, but we are delighted that Pragmasis security is helping to keep their bikes safe when they are out on patrol!

The new batch of Pragmasis Protector Chains has completed processing and is now en-route to the new Pragmasis HQ in London. Yay! :-)

The photo shows the set of 5 pallets ready for despatch at our coating company last week. Those guys have always been brilliant at the shot blasting and EPD coating processes that we need for the chains, and also at packing everything up afterwards so it all arrives intact and in good condition :-)

(Honestly, the number of coating companies that we used in years gone by that failed in one respect or another! You wouldn't believe how some companies manage to make any money! We rejected lots of parts and even occasionally entire batches, if they weren't good enough. That's why, once we tried and tested the present coating company, we stuck with them and have been using them exclusively for years!)

We've done our routine hardness tests on sample links to check the Heat Treatment and all looked good. We have always asked the chain factories to include sample links precisely so we can do quality checks. That's another element of our production process that is not changing: Same factories, Same specifications and processes, Same checks. All good, so we can be confident we are making quality products.

We will advise when stock is actually available to order.

Exciting times! :-)

The new Pragmasis Engineering website is live! The first of our new phase of manufacturing production is nearing completion, with more to follow in coming months.

https://securityforbikes.com/

I (Steve) will still be involved but more 'behind the scenes' on manufacturing and new product design.

There are exciting times coming as the new team completes their infrastructure and gets product stock on the shelves.

I am delighted that this new era of Pragmasis is getting underway and customers will be able to buy many of our products again :-)

This is Steve announcing major progress on the new generation of Pragmasis!

I am delighted that the new company has been formed under new (and younger!) ownership and a formal agreement has been signed between us to allow 'Pragmasis Engineering Limited' to take over the security product range we developed under Pragmasis :-)

Pragmasis Engineering will take over manufacture of many products in the range with my authorisation and support so we can ensure product quality will be appropriately maintained. We will continue to use exactly the same external factories and subcontractors as we used previously. Production is already underway for new batches of the following:
- Protector 13mm/16mm/19mm chains in a variety of lengths;
- Torc Mega Ground Anchors (multiple fitting kits will be available);
- RL21 RoundLocks and RL21A sockets (Keyed-to-Differ and Keyed-Alike will be available).

Plans for other products are in consideration, including ideas for new products. Pragmasis Engineering hopes to expand the product range as time goes on, with my design input where I can be helpful.

My brother, David, will also be involved in the new business. David provided our customer front-line support and he will be providing ongoing technical backup for the new business, thereby retaining the depth and quality of guidance that Pragmasis became well-known for.

The photo shows the new owner of Pragmasis Engineering (Ben Cope) signing the agreement with me on 8th February. Ben has been deeply involved in the motorcycle industry for many years and has a strong customer ethic, something always very important to us.

Ben was the original founder of Visordown in 2000, a very popular motorcycle forum on the Internet. More recently, Ben and his colleague Chris Lyndon-Parker established the popular and much-respected tyre dealership Two Tyres in 2019. Two Tyres has always had a desire to seek out quality products. Perhaps that explains why they became one of the resellers of our Pragmasis security products several years ago :-) We have known them both for a long time and always found them to share the same values of integrity and customer service that have underpinned Pragmasis since Day 1. Although their main experience has been with motorcycle products, Ben is very keen to improve our offering for cyclists and others needing to protect their property.

This marks the start of the formal handover of product design info, trademarks and other intellectual property created by us under Pragmasis.

It marks the beginning of a new and exciting era that should see not only renewed and ongoing availability of many of our well-known and much-respected products, but also a new dawn in terms of public visibility. Many times, customers have said that we were like the world's best-kept secret! Ben is determined, and has the ability and the support of an established team around him, to correct that so we can collectively help many more people to keep their property safe! :-)

We will provide more details on the handover process over coming weeks. In terms of GDPR and customer data we've taken advice from a consultant and will be carefully managing the transition and carrying on the honourable and ethical processes we've always adhered to throughout our history with Pragmasis. Previous customers will be notified about the impending changes and will have the opportunity to opt out if they so wish.

Warranty support for our previous customers & their ongoing technical support will also all be honoured by the new company.

We will always honour and respect our customers' best interests. Indeed, that has been a strong motivator for me as to why we have pursued this new future. That, plus it providing some income for the Woods, means it should be a brilliant Win-Win for everyone except the thieves. How we always like it :-)

Apologies for another long gap between updates. We were a tad busy, actually right through Christmas, New Year and through until last week, when we handed the keys to our units over to the new tenants.

Redecorating and clearing out lots-of-stuff was a real marathon, and the freezing cold weather over Christmas didn't help in the least. Plus me (Steve) getting the 'flu on Xmas Eve. Yuk.

Here is a picture of our final team and some 'before' and 'after' photos...

Meanwhile, we have been making progress on the arrangements for the new business, under new ownership and management, based in London. We are about to kick off large production batches of Protector 13/16/19mm chains and Torc Mega ground anchors and RoundLocks. More is planned later but it's important to get started sensibly.

We are hoping to provide more definite news on that very soon :-)..And there is even the beginnings of some new product development :-)

Wow! What a year this has been, and our Pragmasis work is not over for it yet!

We've been continuing the clearance process but there is still quite a bit to go. The redecoration seems a bit like painting the Forth Bridge as it is such a big task. We are getting there but we've missed our target of being all done before Christmas. We will be working quite a lot over the next 2+ weeks to get it all finished, in fact. Hey ho. (If anyone in the Tamworth area knows a *good* Painter & Decorator with perhaps a cancelled job looming, please let us know!)

Meanwhile, we are preparing for a new bulk production batch of Protector 13 & 16 & 19mm chains, plus batches of Torc Mega ground anchors and RoundLocks. These will be done in cooperation under a new company with new owners, with David and Tracy and me (Steve) all involved and providing guidance and technical as well as production and customer support.

The plan we have been developing will enable these core elements of the existing Pragmasis product range to have ongoing manufacture and actually much-improved marketing and fulfilment than we were able to do when it was just us! Not only will the products become available again, but more people should hear about them! Many times people said we were a ‘best-kept secret’ so this should see the dawn of a new era for the Pragmasis product range 😊

I (Steve) absolutely need to pull back from the day-to-day stresses of running an entire business so I will be providing the guidance and ‘glue’ to join our existing factories, subcontractors and suppliers to the new team so that quality will be maintained, and I will have some involvement for technical and design backup in the longer term. I will be spending a lot more time taking care of our Alvecote Wood ancient woodland as well as recovering from the toll of many years of battling against rising costs and increasing admin etc.

We will make more definite announcements ASAP, as formal agreements and details are signed and appropriately authorised.

We would like to wish all our customers, suppliers and partners a Very Happy Christmas and a Happy and above all Healthy 2025. This has been a challenging year and we are very grateful for all the support and many, many kind words from a large number of customers and partners. Next year should see a lot of progress with renewed product availability whilst achieving an improved work-Woods-life balance for us. Thanks again and more news coming soon :-)

Sincere apologies for such a long period of silence. We've been a tad busy!

We had the machinery & equipment auction and the following 3 weeks has seen the collections process, where the purchasers have come to collect the Lots that they bought.

The photos show some 'before' and 'after' views of our workshop.

The big machines went in the last 2 weeks. Some were emotional for me, especially our MIG welder as I bought that new 12 years ago as a major upgrade on the previous machine I bought second hand shortly after starting Pragmasis. I worked out some years ago that I had done over 100,000 welds and a lot of them were with this newer machine so we've been through a lot together. I largely built up the company around it, in fact, so there is some real history there. I wished it well for the future :-)

The forklift was the last machine to go, yesterday. Another good piece of equipment that has done us proud for many years. I'm sure it will give good service to its new home :-)

There were over 300 Lots and virtually everything sold so it was a success. Thank you very much to Peaker Pattinson (Auctioneers) Limited, who have been excellent throughout what was sometimes a difficult process for us. They were efficient, professional and a pleasure to work with so we would thoroughly recommend them. (Rolls Royce, the BBC and many others use them so we were in highly esteemed company!)

In parallel with all of that logistic and heavy lifting stuff with cranes, trolleys and huffing and puffing, there has been a lot of decorating so we can leave the building in good condition in due course. In much better condition than we inherited, in fact. We would always leave a building in good condition as that is how we are, but the landlords have been excellent for us for many years and we are going above and beyond as a token of our gratitude. Well done Gold & Wassall Hinges :-)

There has also been some significant progress happening in connection with provisions for future manufacture of several of our products. We will post more on that, shortly :-)

We have now closed our online shop :-(

After 21 years we have stopped taking routine orders. (We will still look at individual cases within the dwindling stock we do have remaining, but they will have to fit in with other stuff going on with us , particularly our big auction that is now looming!)

We have supplied significant product stock to our UK stockists, shown on our Stockists page:
https://securityforbikes.com/stockists.php
We are out of stock of virtually everything with only RoundLocks and Shed Shields and not much else left! The stockists have a lot more than we have with other allocated stock still to go to them.

So if you need any of our products, please take a look at their respective websites to see if they can help. We are still here for some weeks yet and will try to help even beyond that.
E-mail us at [email protected] if you need specific help where resellers can't assist.

(UPDATE:) We have been having discussions that might lead to a licensing deal, or perhaps more, for some future production. We can't tell yet whether anything will materialise from that. We remain hopeful but we've been told that we "leave big boots to fill" so it's perhaps quite a big 'ask' for someone to take on even a subset. We'll see.

Meanwhile, our machinery and equipment auction is looming next Thursday (14th), gulp:
https://www.ppauctions.com/auction/415/pragmasis-limited
Bidding is open now (all online) but will doubtless get much more serious in the closing hours, around Thursday morning.

Most of the interesting stuff is up approaching Lot 100 and beyond (big machines are at Lot 103 and 120 onwards).

There are over 300 lots altogether so it’s not surprising it’s taken a-g-e-s for us to pull it all together, with us doing videos for all the big stuff (all visible in the listing for each lot). Thursday will make for an interesting screen-watching time for us. Fingers crossed we can get some decent money back from a lot of it :-)

Welcome to the on-line marketing and information area for Peaker Pattinson.
