The Highgate Society’s monthly litter pick took place around the area of The Park, just off North Hill. Veolia’s van turned up just as we were finishing and collected our rubbish straight away. We found three dumped number plates which will be reported to the police.

We had a great tidy up event yesterday next to the Heath, where we were able to deal with quite a bit of the rubbish that ends up being left behind plants and bushes. Thanks to to all the visitors to the Heath who gave positive feedback.

The next litter pick will take place on Saturday 18th July meeting at the junction of Merton Lane and Millfield Lane at 9.30 am.

We will work for an hour and will provide gloves, bags, tabards and litter pickers. We look forward to seeing you then and new volunteers are always welcome.

OmVed Gardens, a centre of ecology for people and nature

An environmental crisis has arisen from an increasing disconnect from and exploitation of our natural world. OmVed Gardens confronts this crisis by exploring our relationship with the natural world. This exploration is uniquely holistic involving the disciplines of horticulture, cooking, art, literature and science. Join Kiran Lee for a talk describing the ecology of OmVed Gardens and the dynamic range of spaces, inhabitants and interactions that occur here.

The Poetry Group will meet on 7th July from 6.30-8.30pm.

Spoken word comences at about 6.45. This months prompts for poets looking for something to write about are: 1) Independence, 2) Weather 3) Anyone for tennis.
